Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew (and Aquagaze) will run down the last week’s new pre-orders, turning a loving or scathing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard earned cash on. This week I am behind the reins again doing my usual thing of having everyone discuss the best of this weeks least clothed figures, among other things.

Kirino Kousaka (Oremo)
Wave, August 2014, ¥6730

Timmy: While I do appreciate seeing something a little different from the usual Kirino figures, I can’t say this really pings my interest. I think Wave did an nice enough job and the details of the backpack and her shirt are a nice touch. But in the end she just feels simple and underwhelming, though I suppose that could be the point if you are into those kinds of figures.

Jel: A lot of figures of really really young looking characters at least have some kind of interesting design to them, this is literally a figure of an elementary school girl. Why would you want this in your collection? That’s even before you get to the fact that it’s Oreimo were talking about here, which adds an extra layer of DO NOT WANT as far as I’m concerned.

Lifesong: Kirino is disgustingly cute as a little kid. This won’t be coming anywhere near my collection.

Hana, Ame and Yuki (Wolf Children)
Medicos Entertainment, May 2014, ¥10640

Timmy: Finally, it’s about time this pops up again painted and as expected the sculpt shines just as much as it did before. The paint on the other had feels like someone ran a previous pic of the sculpt through photoshop to demonstrate what the figure could look like. Everything just seems so pale and washed out save for the red of the eyes. It’s a real shame for such a promising sculpt and I hope the paint sees some adjustment.

Jel: I’m with the other guys, the paint really drags down what is otherwise a unique and well sculpted figure. The individual character designs are pretty plain, but the combination of all three makes up for it. Maybe it will look better once it gets closer to actual production.

Lifesong: I love the expressions here, but I’m not found of the choice in paints. The colors look dirty like someone added mud especially on the skin and hair. Honestly this figure is still pretty cute in my opinion. I would probably be tempted if I knew the characters.

Tomo Asama (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere)
Kotobukiya, May 2014, ¥14800

Timmy: Quite an impressive effort by Kotobukiya and at that price they seem to agree. She has all kinds of interesting stuff going on with that massive bow, her outfit, her hair, and that little floating thing. An to top it off her determined face looks lovely. While Koto has been doing impressive things lately with few problems and I have no doubt this will be the same, that price is still a good bit higher then it needs to be. Especially from a company that is traditionally less expensive then most.

Jel: Tomo looks pretty cool here. I love the gaudy pink color scheme, the massive bow, and the mecha musume look. I imagine the bow might make it a little challenging to display and that seems like an unusually high price tag, but overall I like it.

Lifesong: Tomo is one of the more iconic characters from Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere so it’s neat to see a figure of her in more of a badass mode. Kotobukiya have done a great job capturing the original artwork and bringing it to life in all its ridiculous glory. Personally I think the price is reasonable for what you get. This isn’t your usual fair outfit. Tomo almost looks like a mecha masume when she goes out on the battlefield and Kotobukiya captured all of that. They even included the little spirit thing that she “worships” and makes all the crazy power up deals with.

Umi Sonoda (Love Live!)
Kotobukiya, May 2014, ¥6890

Timmy: Speaking of being impressive Koto have presented us with another fine Love Live! figure. Great face, nice interesting pose and hair and some very pretty shades of blue and purple make for a lovely figure of Umi. And of course that splash base is still as cool as when we saw it the first time.

Jel: This is a really pretty figure. Her outfit manages to look classy despite showing a lot of skin and the soft blue palette is lovely. The little splash base almost makes her look more like a Water Goddess than an idol.

Lifesong: Another lovely idol girl from Kotobukyia. The painting on her outfit is gorgeous as is her serene expression. I feel like I could write a book on how great Kotobukyia is at skin tone, but I’ll just sum up my thought by saying it is also gorgeous. Kotobukyia seem to have a thing for making gorgeous idol figures.

The Muse of Range Murata (Original)
Alter, May 2014, ¥10500

Timmy: I know I am probably going to get crap for saying it but man is this a lovely figure. The detail from her scarf and the stitching and buckles on her immodest outfit to her gloves, boots, and chair is all amazing. Her hair and those ropes both add lots of interest and she has a really nice face to top it off. Alter is asking quite a bit but I would say if you have the dough Muse here is quite worth it.

Jel: Is it wrong that I’m arguably most impressed by the chair? Look at the detail on those legs! Alter sure has been making some strange choices lately, but this is impressive even by their standards. Check out the details like the wrinkles in her boots and her skimpy clothing, the texture of her scarf, and the sculpt of her hair, and you’ve got a great example of why they’re one of the best figure companies out there.

Lifesong: This is the prettiest nonsensical figure I’ve seen in some time. I count myself as a fan of Range Murata though I don’t actually like any of the things it has been featured in. It’s neat to see a stand alone piece in figure form. The attention to detail on her boots and gloves is fantastic. The paint work on her scarf is gorgeous and the orange string hanging from her neck, head and panties gives the figure a sort of surreal elegance. This girl wears this “outfit” with so much confidence that it kind of works in a weird sort of way. Too bad that’s only the case when you stop and examine her. The thing that really tempts me to buy this figure is an odd detail though. I love the little touch of purple on the tips of her hair.
