This time: Zombicchi wa Bicchi ni Fukumaremasuka?, by Yuuichi Hiiragi
How do I keep rolling this shit? That title makes even less sense than usual! I’m not going to pretend to actually know anything about Japanese, but a cursory attempt at a literal translation of the title ends up as “Is This Bitch Comprised of Zombitch?”, which might be worse. At least it’s not as bad as title as Onii-Nyan, but that manga has the dubious honor of having the worst title of all time, so I’m just damning Zombitch (ugh) here with faint praise. Not that it isn’t damned already, considering how completely terrible it is.
The two chapters of this I deigned to waste my time on (out of four, not including a oneshot version of the same story, which might make this the fastest RMT I ever abandoned) focus on Sakina, the eponymous bitch-who-is-also-a-zombitch-despite-not-doing-anything-bitchy. Granted, my understanding is that in Japanese slang, “bitch” refers a sexually promiscuous woman, and not a highly unpleasant one. So, I guess “slut” would be a more appropriate translation? But ZomSlut just doesn’t have the same ring to it, I guess. God, this post is just the worst, isn’t it?
Anyway, Sakina was hit by a truck and killed instantly, but she really wanted to get it on with her childhood friend at some point, causing her “erotic delusions” to gain so much power that they reanimated her corpse. So now, she’s a zombie inasmuch as basic reanimated corpses can be considered zombies (at least she’s not an “Infected”?), but she needs more of the same power to keep her alive. That’s right folks, she needs to have erotic fantasies to keep her heart beating and her corpse moving, until she can finally have sex with her crush. Gross, corpse-y sex.
Apparently a life-threatening condition is enough to make her a
slut ZomSlut Zombitch (WHY) in the author’s eyes, and the manga has a field day with the concept. With stupid puns that rival even those of Yakitate!! Japan, Sakina mishears completely innocuous things as sexual propositions, padding out pages with shots of her blushing and being turned on without actually showing much fanservice at all. Frankly, even though I’ve been pretty hard on fanservice manga on this feature, I’m baffled as to why they didn’t even bother to go all the way with this one. Still, it was pretty fucking terrible, and I couldn’t take anymore once Sakina went to a Starbucks and misheard “frappuccino” as “fellatio”.
Verdict: Already Dead
Honestly, I only bothered with this because of the ridiculous title. It looked terrible, and it turned out to actually be terrible. Who knew?
