re: Jaadugar, I kind of look forward to it, but having read a little of the author’s other manga “Dampier no oishii bouken”, I’m a bit worried – that one was, at least as far as I’ve read, a very Disney-fied account of the life of William Dampier, who was, well, an interesting person and definitely not among the most bloodthirsty 17th century explorers, but, y’know. I don’t know enough of the particular bit of history covered by Jaadugar to be able to judge how bad or good it is in that aspect, though…
Just to clarify the above, I don’t mean “Disney-fied” because of the cutesy art style, it’s more like the overall “oh the nice natives treat us to all sorts of delicious food and we all respect one another~” vibe. Maybe later on it actually delves into how this fun dude was actually an active participant of the slave trade, and traveled with other dudes who were very much into that, buuut yeah.
