It is time once again for our annual look back at the past year, and my favorite anime moments from 2024.

Tying a bow on 2023 with our favorite anime of the year.
The best anime according to the GLORIO crew, 2023 edition
Dramatic title aside, I’ve come to appreciate these posts as a way of leaving behind a definitive footprint. My feelings for these may change as time passes but here and now in 2023, this is what I had to say about anime.
It is time once again for our annual look back at the past year, and my favorite anime moments from 2023.
We talk about the anime we’re still watching, catch up on Kamen Rider coming and going, and get into a lengthy discussion about boring anime protagonists. Yeah, it’s that kind of season.
We share our final thoughts on the Spring 2023 season, a solid group of shows that managed to survive some bumpy endings. Yes, that includes Birdie Wing and Gundam.
Aqua has dared to question the unassailable Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story, and we wonder if our favorite shows this season will cross the finish line without falling apart.
As we approach the final stretch of the season, I still can’t decide if Oshi no Ko is good. But hey, plenty of other good shows as we get into Birdie Wing, Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Daimakyo), and we talk about one episode of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury for almost as long as the episode itself.
We discuss Oshi no Ko possibly not living up to its explosive start, our disappointment with Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage, and everyone’s favorite show about star crossed lesbians being manipulated by their parents and powerful corporations… and maybe even some Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury!
In addition to our usual anime coverage, we talk about several anime adjacent games we’ve been into lately. Please play Labyrinth of Galleria: The Moon Society, now available on Playstation, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
#1 Aikatsu! fan Peter details their recent trip to Japan, Jel goes to the Kaguya-sama: Love is War movie, and the NieR:Automata anime is back.
As we grind into the midpoint of the season, we talk about our regularly scheduled shows and… sports?
We add a few more Winter 2023 shows, say some parting words for NieR:Automata ver. 1.1a as it goes on hiatus, and dive back into our complicated feelings toward Trigun Stampede.
We touch on the Pokemon Sword & Shield launch, catch up on Chihayafuru and Vinland Saga, and then do our weekly gushing over Beastars.
We talk Death Stranding, say goodbye to Pokemon Sun & Moon, Jel vents about Granblue Fantasy season 2, and of course we cover our regularly scheduled anime talk.
We catch up on anime and Jel finally gets an excuse to rant about Robotech.
Jel, Iro, Gee, and Chris talk about anime, including the best anime of 2019 – Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Can you guess which houses we picked?
