Only half joking with that title, this year has been marked with a lot of changes, not the least of which being my entry into studies for the priesthood. Still you’re not here to listen to me talk about contemplating celibacy, you’re here for the people who pretty clearly are on the opposite end of the spectrum. 2016 was a light year for pure romance shows, but I’m here for you to dish out the best of the best.
If you go about doing a season preview, it is only obvious you also close off on a season review. In The Wrap-Up, all of our contributors get to shine a spotlight on the show they thought to be the very best of the past few weeks, as well as reflect back on the preview to see which shows let us down the most. When you watch currently airing anime or tokusatsu, eventually the question will rise which of these shows can rank amongst the medium’s true classics. Regardless of who covered what, this is where we single out the cream of the crop, and decide which shows from the past season deserve to stand the test of time.
We say good bye to BBK/BRNK, Durarara, and the shorts, but Snow White, Osomatsu, Rakugo, and Dagashi Kashi will stubbornly hold on for one more episode. Come guys, we got a new season to prepare for, wrap it up already!
I fixed my computer just in time to say goodbye to Konosuba and watch Karamatsu get his junk ripped off. What a season of anime this has been.
Our Roundup shows intensify as the end of the season approaches. Join us for the emotional drama and psychological pain that is Ojisan and Marshmallow and Sekko Boys… and probably Rakugo. Also my computer broke last night and I couldn’t do screencaps so enjoy pictures of robots punching robots courtesy of Iro.
A bit of a hit and miss week with some shows doing better than others, but the good shows were pretty great. Sure we have our subtle, measured use of drama with shows like Snow White and Rakugo, but I’ll take the hilarious vomiting blood reactions of Osomatsu and the marble statue blackmail sex of Sekko Boys any day.

This time, perhaps for the first time in AYM history (except that time it was All Your Honies), the boys handily outnumber the girls!
BBK/BRK smashes its way into a guest appearance on The Roundup as the world needs to know about the insane episode 8. And here I thought I was going to lead off this week with more Osomatsu and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure jokes…
After saying goodbye to Mr. Osomatsu last week, we say hello to Mr. Shounosuke Hijirikawa. Dagashi Kashi comes back from a week off with a solid episode, and all the Roundup shows are looking good as we pass the halfway point of the season.
Dagashi Kashi has the week off and most of the other shows put up solid performances, but none of that matters as Osomatsu destroys all competition – in so many different ways!
In a SHOCKING TWIST, two of our regular Roundup shows don’t survive to volume 4. Can you guess WHO MISSED THE CUT??? Fortunately the rest of the lineup holds things down with a good mix of comedy and… well, mostly comedy.
All of our new Roundup shows have survived the 3 episode test, but will they survive after 4? Rakugo, Dagashi Kashi, and the shorts are holding steady while KONOSUBA, Nurse Witch Komugi R, and Rainbow Days continue to flirt with the chopping block. But hey, we can always count on Osomatsu to be amazing.
Our comedy-heavy Roundup gets a little heavier with the addition of KONOSUBA and a LOT heavier with Sekko Boys. PLEASE LAUGH AT MY BAD JOKES.
The Winter 2016 Roundup starts off with a bang as we bring in a new block of shows as well as a few returning contenders. Dagashi Kashi, Ojisan and Marshmallow, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Nurse Witch Komugi R, and Rainbow Days all make their Roundup debut while Snow White with the Red Hair and Durarara return after a season off. Oh, and of course Mr. Osomatsu is still with us, thank the anime gods!

We’ll have a more official farewell to the Summer season later today, but we say good bye to a few other favorites in the Late edition… well, for now as Durararararara is scheduled to return for the winter and Working!!! has promised a special hour long grand finale.
Love is over as we bid farewell to Snow White and My Love Story!, or at least until next week’s episode of Working!!! We sure did have a lot of romance in this edition of The Roundup over the past few weeks, we may need to resuscitate Marlin.
Kind of ironic that in the week that My Love Story! takes an episode off the rest of the Roundup delivers in the romance department. Both Working!!! and Snow White have us squeeing like fan girls as actual progress is made in key relationships. How revolutionary. Oh and Gatchaman Crowds Insight? Still awesome.
Don’t believe Takeo’s shirt: My Love Story!! did not do a good job this week, nor did Working!!! which barely redeems itself in its last few minutes, or Durarara!! which didn’t even bother airing an episode. Fortunately Gatchaman Crowds Insight ups the intensity and Snow White finally makes a move.
