We cap off a Very GLORIO 2018 by discussing our top 10 anime of the year, as well as a few honorable mentions that just missed the cut.
Gee you can’t just make up awards as an excuse to praise whatever you feel like.
Jel, Iro, Marlin, and Gee aka Team GLORIO USA share their final thoughts on the Winter season. We talk about our favorite (or not so favorite) shows, discuss if Netflix is bad for anime, and Jel and Iro continue to battle over segues.
Zigg joins the usual lineup of Jel, Iro, and Gee as we catch up on Mr. Osomatsu and it’s stellar episode 18, Garo – Vanishing Line’s penchant for bullet punching, Violet Evergarden’s big change in episode 5, and of course our favorite dumpster fire, Darling in the FranXX.
2017, despite being something of a garbage fire of a year, ended up being pretty good for anime. Between some original standouts, old franchises returning to form, and some excellent adaptations, anime is as fresh as it’s ever been, even in the face of some truly offensive offerings. As my life gets busier, I find I end up watching less than I’d like, but nonetheless, here’s my arbitrary list of awards that give me an excuse to talk about some of that anime.
It’s Garo! Again! This time we’re in a present day metropolis where distant teenager Sophie runs afoul of Horrors. Fortunately, she’s rescued by Sword, the latest wielder of the golden armour.
You could argue the return of Kino’s Journey is the most notable series in Part 2 of our season guide, but there’s also a lot of returning Glorio cult favorites we’re more inclined to be excited about. I mean, singing the praises of shows like Garo, Classicaloid, and Time Bokan is why you love us, right?
