We can finally say good bye to 2020, but before we move on we’re going to take a final look at the best shows of the year. If this is your first time joining us, our Top 10 list is based on votes from the GLORIO crew using a weighted scoring method guaranteed to produce a 100% accurate list. Sorry folks, it’s just science. Here’s the list, and let us know what you think.
Zigg looks back on a year that soared and stumbled in equal measure, and picks out the stories that shone the brightest.
Like many people, this year has been rather busy for me for a variety of reasons both personal and practical. So rather than my usual arbitrary awards show with bespoke categories, I’ll just be going through all the anime I watched in 2020 in chronological order and giving each one the words I think they deserve, for either good or ill.
As the season crawls toward the finish line, we take some time to chat about the anime-ish games we’ve been playing in addition to our usual anime talk.
Halfway through the season we welcome back Gal and Dino, catch up on some other anime trash we haven’t discussed in a while, and check in for another Kamen Rider update.
We are still talking about Great Pretender somehow (thanks Netflix), discussing the anime versus the game with Magatsu Wahrheit Zuerst, and we finally get off some Genshin Impact takes.
We tie a neat bow on a messy season, including final thoughts about Appare Ranman, DECA-DENCE, and whatever else we managed to finish.
Coming down the home stretch of a weird season with show ending at odd times, we wrap up Great Pretender (for now), Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise, and Kamen Rider Zero-One.
We talk anime business with the sale of Crunchyroll and the death of KissAnime, then on to our usual batch of Summer shows.
We check out the return(s) of Millionaire Detective – Balance: UNLIMITED and Appare Ranman, then talk about the other shows this season we have somehow convinced ourselves to keep watching.
The crew tries to savor the last moments of talking about good anime before going into the Summer season.
We suffer through the small group of new shows airing next season so that you don’t have to.
On a serious note, we share a few words of support for Black Lives Matter and the ongoing protests. Then we try and get back to talking anime, including a surprise new contender for best show of the season.
