The GLORIO Chat Episode 189: OK, Bet
Aqua sneak attacks us with the Netflix live action adaptation of Kakegurui, now named Bet, then it’s back to our usual anime coverage.

We discuss the latest Crunchyroll controversy, rave about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, then do our best to give final thoughts on Summer 2022 despite most of the shows not ending yet.
Deep in the heart of the Summer 2022 season, we add Kakegurui Twin and, surprisingly, Uncle from Another World to our usual watch list.
First-year student Mary Saotome has one goal: to rise to the top as the pretty and popular gambling prodigy of the infamous Hyakkaou Private Academy. However, she soon discovers that she’ll need to up the ante if she really wants to gain the attention and accolades of her peers. Now, with an old classmate-turned-housepet by her side, Mary is determined to gamble (and cheat) her way to true fame and fortune – even if that means taking on the student council.
As we rapidly approach the GLORIO blog’s 10th anniversary, we find ourselves still trying to get excited about new anime. Please read the Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer manga.
Music is as integral to a piece of media as visuals or plot, which is why for as long as The GLORIO Blog has existed, we have done some variety of a feature about our favourite anime songs. With the decade having come to a close, we’re presenting the most memorable tracks of them all right here, with all the pithy commentary from yours truly you’ve come to expect.
Our Very GLORIO 2019 year in review begins as always with Jel’s best anime moments.
So apparently we forgot to do a Wrap-up for the Fall season of 2018? You folks still care about this, right?
Jel, Iro, and Gee give their final thoughts on the Winter 2019 season. That’s about it.
What do you get from too much anime? Three talking nerds and a pea-sized brain.

We announce the winner of our Best Anime Shirts 2018 poll, talk about Pokemon for like 20 minutes, and then I get yelled at for spoiling Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Oh, and we talk about the past two weeks of anime.
Yo Lily, jump over that big ass ramp.
Jabami Yumeko and the rest of our lovable scamps are back. By day, Hyakkaou Academy for the Obscenely Rich (or otherwise just plain Obscene) is just your average prestigious private high school for the exceedingly privileged. By night, it turns into a gambling den, with apparently any game and any stakes allowed, and where cheating is a-okay so long as it’s spelled out for the audience.
Jel, Gee, and Marlin take a look at the upcoming shows for the winter season, including a new show that may be a successor to the classic space opera series we can’t shut up about, Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
If you go about doing a season preview, it is only obvious you also close off on a season review. In The Wrap-Up, all of our contributors get to shine a spotlight on the show they thought to be the very best of the past few weeks, as well as reflect back on the preview to see which shows let us down the most. When you watch currently airing anime or tokusatsu, eventually the question will rise which of these shows can rank amongst the medium’s true classics. Regardless of who covered what, this is where we single out the cream of the crop, and decide which shows from the past season deserve to stand the test of time.
It’s the final roundup of the season and we bid farewell to GAMERS! and Kakegurui. Virgin Soul is stubbornly sticking around for one more episode so I take one last opportunity to eviscerate it.
I throw in a few extra paragraphs as we say goodbye to Restaurant to Another World and Sakura Quest, but unfortunately not Virgin Soul. But hey, GAMERS! and Kakegurui are still hanging around and as fun as ever, so we still have one more week with them.
Can you believe the season is almost over already? I hope it ends before the previously reliably GAMERS! falls completely out of my favor, and I certainly will not be sad to see Virgin Soul go away. Fortunately the rest of the Roundup seems like it will stay good till the very end. Enjoy, I’m off to start writing those Fall preview guides…
Bad news! Summer is over! Good news! That means we’ll be telling you about our favourite anime songs of the season again! Scant consolation, probably, but hey, since when is that our job? Regardless, we have another diverse lineup for you, with gratuitous sex jazz, spy prog, minimal hip-house and a dash of fairy pop. All of these are totally real genres. Look them up.
