I dropped Demon is a Part-Timer because after a strong start it ended up slowly ditching the aspects I liked about it, and turned into the usual power fantasy harem LN affair, where the female characters more or less lose every aspect of their personality that doesn’t revolve around their feelings for the main character, are worrying about their boob size, etc. (I remember it well because it was such a disappointment for me that I completely gave up hope on adaptations of this kind of light novels, and made me super wary of light novel adaptations in general.) Looking at the promo for this new season, I don’t think I’m going to check it out…
I kind of forgot how bad the female characters were, I now remember hating the main girl in particular
The Devil is a Part-Timer season 2 is a weird one. The LN already ended and let just say that the ending pissed off a lot of fans due to it came out of nowhere, to the point that the author current series is tanking. There are some rumor that they will skipped to the last few volumes and retcon the ending too.
As for the Kamen Rider sequel, I am casually optimistic about it. I read a couple of chapters of the manga and so far the main take away in the sequel is that the protagonist got a love interest (because he didn’t end up with anyone in the original series).
PS: Actually the latest manga tie in for Kamen Rider is the Kamen Rider Buster manga which tie in with Saber.
Yeah I’m pretty sure I’m just skipping Devil is a part timer at this point
You said “it’s about small girls who have technological devices to give them magical superpowers to do sports” and I was thinking “huh, that sounds a lot like Nanoha ViVid and ViVid Strike”, and then laughed hard when you revealed it was by the same people as Nanoha. They really know what they like.
That said, as someone who actually liked mainline Nanoha, the ViVid series I found intensely boring, so hard pass on Extreme Hearts from me. I’m glad they’re being honest about it this time rather than trying to crowbar it into the Nanoha-verse to get more name recognition (as much as Nanoha gets in 2022)
I remember reading about ViVid Strike for preview purposes but I didn’t actually watch it, I didn’t know that also had a sports element. Makes me wonder if they will still attempt to cram it into the expanded Nanoha universe somehow
It was based around one specific fictional sport of “small girls who look like slightly older girls (because magic) beating each other half to death”, something like magical girl Megalobox, which is quite the niche.
