Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew will run down the last week’s new preorders, turning a loving or scathing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard earned cash on. This week, imoutos, lolis, and a whole lotta Nendos. Oh, and definite non-figure fan Aqua, for some reason.
Nendoroid Spider-Man (The Amazing Spider-Man)
Good Smile Company, November, 2850JPY
Dragonzigg: Dear god this looks terrible. I was not a big fan of the redesigned suit anyway, but shrunk down to such a small scale it’s just a horrible mess of dull colours and nasty black lines. And what’s with those naff yellow eyes? And the ugly knee joints? The only saving grace here is the badass base, but that’s not enough to redeem this.
Jel: I think a good Spider Man Nendoroid is possible but it would it would have to be the iconic classic costume and not this scaly monstrosity.
Lifesong: I can’t help but laugh at this. What appeal is there for a Nendoroid that is not cute?
Itsatimmy: I really like the idea here but it just looks like crap as a nendoroid. A 1/8th figure or even a figma of this would probably look pretty awesome though.
Aquagaze: Look at this guy. He looks like a Spider-Man from some sort of twisted spin-off where Peter Parker is 14 months old. The Thumb-sucking Spider-Baby’s Adventures in Manhattan Daycare. Just don’t show this to Marvel, or they might get ideas. Well, look at it from the bright side. It could have been the Linkin Park nendos.
Nendoroid Ricotta Elmar (Dog Days)
Good Smile Company, November, 2850JPY
Dragonzigg: This is a cute little design but I’m having trouble liking it. It’s just kinda…generic. There’s no real amazing stuff with this one, nor a striking enough design to make it stand out. The cannons are cool but this is definitely one for the fans only.
Jel: Even though I’ve only seen a few episodes of Dog Days even I know there are probably better choices for a Nendoroid. Also, no chocobo, no deal.
Lifesong: She’s cute, and I will probably pick her up now that it looks like Good Smile is going to keep the set going. She is not quite cute enough for me to buy on her own however.
Itsatimmy: I already have Millhiore but I find myself on the fence with getting Rico. While she is indeed quite adorable and some of her accesories could be pretty fun with other nendos; that white flag, cape, and unlimited artillery works specifically. At the same time its hard to top Millhiore and her epic mount. I wasn’t really planning to play catch them all after all.
Aquagaze: What the hell am I even doing here, I don’t even collect figures. I bet this is going to sell millions because she comes with detachable ears, though (Zigg’s note – nope, not detachable). Oh ok, then just saw off the nubs and go crazy with Pattex.
Revoltech Danbo Yoku Dekimasita Ver. (Yotsuba&!)
Kaiyodo, August, 1870JPY (Re-issue)
Dragonzigg: A classic. I already own this, but I’d order in a heartbeat if I didn’t. Just to clarify, this Yoku Dekimasita Ver. is differed from the original only by a small stamp on the back of the head and on the base. It means ‘very well done’ (as in, good work) and is a rather charming little addition if you’ve read the comic.
Jel: I haven’t really gotten into Yotsuba as much as the rest of the GLORIO crew, I should probably get on that. But yeah, that being the case I don’t know enough to realize I should own this.
Lifesong: I am tempted to pick this one up for the novelty of it but I have a bit too much on my plate at the moment.
Itsatimmy: Tempting but I don’t have Yotsuba to go with her and I have enough on order at the moment.
Aquagaze: Danbo is the coolest thing ever, and this is one of the very few anime figurines that would make even your grandmother smile. Miura’s eyes look a bit weird, though. Did she become Charlie Brown?
Figma Tsukihi Araragi (Nisemonogatari)
Good Smile Comapny, November, 2620JPY
Dragonzigg: She’s a cutie this one. Absolutely wonderful sculpt, and Max Factory have done a great job recreating her kimono and sandles in plastic form. For those of you looking to fill out your -monogatari collections there’s also the recently issued Karen and a just announced reissue of Koyomi, so you can recreate those ‘vaguely’ incestuous scenes to your heart’s content
Jel: Hey, something I know! I have been avoiding the -monogatari figmas because I know if I get one then I will have to hunt them all down. Still, as one of my favorite series in recent memory I can’t help but be tempted by every new release. Tsukihi is no exception and she is one of the more unique looking ones, but I will still pass. I just hope someone picks her up and makes a stop-motion Platinum Disco.
Lifesong: This is one I would only pick up if I were after the set but I am not. I do look forward to seeing what other collectors will do with that kitchen knife.
Itsatimmy: A cute girl in a kimono with a kitchen knife. Pretty tempting but not nearly as much as Karen was. I have been avoiding these like the plague anyways as I don’t feel I need a set of –monogatari figmas no matter how awesome they may be.
Aquagaze: PLATINUM RAD. Sadly enough, the top half doesn’t come off.
Taiga Aisaka Bunny Ver. (Toradora!)
QuesQ, December, 5660JPY
Dragonzigg: Torn on this one. It’s a really terrific sculpt of Taiga and QuesQ have done a great job with her face and her hair, which are tought to nail. But I hate bunny girl figures, having always found them exploitative, and this really really doesn’t fit with Taiga’s personality, so it earns a resounding thumbs down from me.
Jel: Her face just says “I’m scared, why are you forcing me to do this?” which is not a question I want my figures asking. The alternate face is an improvement, but it’s still a loli in a bunny suit so you already know if you want this or not.
Lifesong: I already have plenty of Taiga in my collection or I might bite. She looks great but a bunny suit just doesn’t quite capture her personality, at least not in any way that I am willing to spend money on.
Itsatimmy: From the stand point of a cute girl in a bunny costume I do like this. Great sculpt, paint and that alternate smiling face is greatly appreciated. But Taiga in a bunny costume? To me it doesn’t fit her character, just like the tiger one didn’t. At the very least give me a damn grumpy face instead of that concerned or whatever one. Even if I was into bunny girl figures I would pass on this.
Aquagaze: What context could any self-respecting Toradora! fan come up with that would involve Taiga Aisaka wearing a bunny girl outfit? None. I’d rather have a death glaring, ass-kicking palmtop tiger than a moe mess at the verge of tears. One fun little detail, though: notice how the bunny girl costume is a bit loose around the chest area.
Nendoroids Nanoha Takamachi and Fate Testarossa School Uniform Ver. (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha THE MOVIE 2nd A’s)
Good Smile Company, November, 6000 JPY (WonFes & GSC Online Store exclusive)

Dragonzigg: These are adorable, I love the crying faces, the cute uniforms and the darling little versions of Yuuno and Arf provided. But did the world really need more Nanoha figures? GSC could have produced something a lot more unique as an exclusive quite frankly. And ouch that price.
Jel: ARF! Sorry, involuntary reaction. Really GSC? This is one of your exclusives? I actually thought this was a re-release or something. I’m sure it would be cool for Nanoha fans as a regular release but I want to see something much more interesting for Wonder Fest.
Lifesong: Very cute but a bit too boring for me to want to add to my collection.
Itsatimmy: Pretty damn cute but I would prefer their magical girl forms as I find most school girl uniform figures to be rather bland. Its nice of GSC to sell both of them in a set though as if I were getting them I would get them both.
Aquagaze: Version #29.617 of everyone’s favourite lesbians in denial. Ye gods, these two are cute. The sad thing is that their actual heads in the show look exactly like the Nendo heads.
