It’s no secret I’m the big Type-Moon guy in the GLORIO crew, and I ended up getting pretty much all of them to watch the recent Fate/Zero through constant nagging. While a lot of them had severe issues with it (as you can hear in the first episode of Incoherent Babble), they all at least watched it, and I suppose that’s all I can really ask for.
This time, we’re looking at that show’s ending song for its first season: MEMORIA, by Aoi Eir.
At the core of the Fate franchise is the Holy Grail War, where heroes from history and legend are summoned into the modern era to do battle. Part of the fun is figuring out who each Servant is, what their powers are, and how this all ties back into their story. This ED milks that in the best way possible: even though it’s merely a slideshow of images for each Servant, each one is based on a real piece of artwork which is in turn based on the original legends. I’ll only be providing one example, but you can easily look them up with only a bit of searching.
