Recap: Keima falls sick, but, ever the planner, Keima turns this negative around in order to gain Ayumi’s affection. Unfortunately the wildcard Chihiro throws a wrench in his plans, forcing him to think on the fly.
Well this is it, the final stretch of the Goddesses Arc. I can’t say I’m particularly excited, and this episode reminded me exactly why. I think this is the point where I noticed I wasn’t having fun with TWGOK anymore. I was reading the manga more just to see it to the end than to actually enjoy it. There’s a few reasons for this but that’d be treading old ground at this point. I actually really liked the idea of Keima exploiting his illness in a “Sick Day Event”. It’s just what happened next that really annoyed me.
I have no problems with Chihiro being the wild card and screwing with his plans. That’s not the problem here. The problem is this absolutely asinine situation that the show tries to get us to buy. I would have respected this scene a lot more if it just dealt with the conflict of both of them knowing the other went and visited Keima. Instead we have Ayumi, who we already know is a brash and impulsive girl, just kowtow to Keima as he shoves her into his bed. What’s more, we’re supposed to assume Chihiro is both legally deaf and blind as she somehow is unable to both hear Ayumi whispering to Keima five feet away from her nor see her moving underneath the sheets. It’s just completely stupid and it doesn’t make what happens next any easier.
We knew trying to win over two best friends would be an uphill battle, and the end of this episode is really the best part of the whole sick day catastrophe. If you’re good enough friends with someone, you don’t want to get in their way, even at your own detriment. Ayumi automatically finds herself wanting to stay away from Keima because of Chihiro’s feelings. Next episode will probably be the most cringe-worthy scene in the entire show. It hurts to watch what happens, but I’ll leave any who are going into this blind to wonder exactly what goes so bad.

Another thing that doesn’t make sense is how Chihiro can’t smell all that sweat oozing from Ayumi’s body. It’s just an all-around horrible scene, and I was hoping it was the last slump of the show this season, but apparently I have something worse to look forward to…? My guess for the worst case scenario: Keima’s mom becomes main love interest, and the show becomes the bane of my existence.
Haha, nothing that bad. It’s just that nothing will be as adorable as Shiori’s scenes, every moment with Haqua from now on will be melodramatic with a few really skeezy bits of fanservice, and Keima basically has to be the ultimate asshole to get the last goddess.
what do you mean haqua scences will be melodaramatic it more evil tone and not dramatic also you right this sad scence with chihiro make keima look like asshole and it make me even cry while i was read it so watch it in episode 9 will be more hard
@marlinclock are you going to continue blog the world only god knows godness even if that scence is very close?
Oh, I’m doing this to the end. I had a vacation that hampered my ability to make posts, so it’ll be a double feature this week, but I definitely picked the best time for this as the two episodes really go well together.
you was also felt sad in that scence in the manga wuth chihiro and keima?
Of course, I think this actually benefited greatly from the animated format. The manga made it seem like he said it without emotion, but the anime actually made it seem like it hurt him just as much as it did her.
