OP/ED Op-Eds: Hare Hare Yukai [The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya]

Come on. Come ON. You all know this one. Dance along.

To be fair, it’s not right to attribute the popularity of this ending entirely to choreography, as it wouldn’t be much if it weren’t paired with Aya Hirano, Minori Chihara, and Yuko Goto’s perfect slice of bubblegum pop. It’s the perfect fusion of the two – irrepressibly catchy song with a silly but great looking dance. That fantastic drum rush in, the spiky keyboard parts and the general air of exuberance makes it a fantastic way to play the show out. And then of course there’s the dance, which became a phenomenon for anyone who could gather four friends and had a bit of time and a video camera. It’s just fun, and that’s exactly what an ending like this should be.
