Zigg’s Verdict: Majin Bore
I’ve always said that being boring is a far greater crime than being rubbish, and boy is Majin Bone boring. It’s like they set out to build a story out of every possible cliche they could find, and paired it with some amazingly sloppy animation. Now granted, I am aware the show is probably operating on the same budget as a school play, but the all CGI battles are glaringly ‘unreal’ and the everyday animation is flat, stilted and desperately unambitious. There’s no character engagement, no story hook and it all screams ‘contractual obligation’. Total waste of time
Jel’s Verdict: Bury it
This was obviously going to be bad, but I didn’t expect it to be this boring. At the very least we were promised some kind of super powered fighting action, but instead we got a boy, his friend, and her mom trying to get their spooked dog to come out from under the porch. Seriously, it felt like they were standing around that porch for half the episode. Add in the complete lack of creative inspiration and wonky production values and I don’t even see Majin Bone appealing to the slightly younger audience it’s aimed at.
