Premise
Kentarou Momose is a 26-year-old office worker whose former boss harassed him to the point where the constant stress made him develop stomach ulcers. Having just switched jobs, he fears the same problem happening all over again but is pleasantly surprised when his new supervisor, Yuusei Shirosaki, turns out to be an extremely considerate person. However, despite being highly competent at his job and often outwardly expressionless, Shirosaki is also inherently klutzy and airheaded.

Artemis’ verdict: Zom 100 With the Good Ending
I imagined The Yuzuki Family’s Four Sons would be the most soothing/wholesome show of this season, but now I’m pretty sure My New Boss Is Goofy will take that prize, at least for me. I guess you could almost call it a workplace show, but the emphasis here is on the two main character interactions rather than the actual work, so let’s just call it an adult slice-of-life instead, with plenty of gentle comedy thrown in and a vague hint of “this could be BL if you really want it to be.” Not that I think My New Boss Is Goofy will likely head in that direction, and there’s nothing particularly suggestive about it to begin with, but the ease at which viewers could take it in that way if they so wished probably doesn’t do the series any harm for shoujo fans.
In more general terms, this isn’t the kind of comedy that’s too much in the laugh-out-loud vein, but I had enough fun with the premiere that I’ll definitely be back for more. It’s more the kind of show that gives you the warm fuzzies than anything else, especially coupled with the simple but honestly very charming art style – something about it just feels somehow homey and comforting, and I think that’s all My New Boss Is Goofy is striving for overall. If you’re somebody who appreciates all-adult casts, super easygoing humor, and anime where every character is genuinely a nice person, there’s really no going wrong with this one. Ambitious? Nope. Cute as all get-out? Absolutely.

Jel’s verdict: Hot Guys Doing Cute Things
I know anime deals in fantasy and science fiction, but finding a job with bosses this nice might be the biggest stretch of all. Also, not sure how much the main two guys are actually working together as opposed to just going on dates the whole episode. Nevertheless, this is a fun, feel good show with some appropriately goofy jokes and chill vibes all around. I’m not sure if there’s enough here to keep me watching, but I definitely appreciate what they’re going for.
