Honestly, I just really enjoy Bullbuster the way it is, I don’t think it needs more mech action or whatnot. Generally, I don’t think this is actually supposed to be a mech show as such? I mean sure, there’s mecha in it, and maybe it was used as a bait, but the actual show never really tried to make it the focus, I think. The mech is just what adds the “quirk” in the “quirky office comedy” genre’s subgenre of “underdog company/department staffed by ragtag group of weirdos doing Actually Really Important Work that nobody appreciates”. To me this show is more similar to the likes of Active Raid (another show I really liked, hugely flawed as it was) or even Double Decker.
I agree it’s not really a mecha show, I think I mentioned I see it more as an office comedy. I just think as an office comedy, it’s average at best.
I dunno, maybe it’s just me but I think it’s a pretty good office comedy, at least I find it very funny and very relatable – much more relatable than most other office comedy anime I’ve come seen. (And I don’t even work in anything related to engineering… I’m in translation & localization.)
*I’ve seen, even.
I don’t know where that “come” came from.
