Premise
After the death of her parents, Himari Momochi has inherited a supposedly abandoned and haunted mansion called Momochi House. However, upon arriving at her new property, she finds what she assumes to be three male squatters – Aoi Nanamori, Ise, and Yukari. Soon discovering that these are in fact yokai, Himari refuses to leave despite their warnings, choosing to remain despite the dangerous other supernatural forces residing nearby.

Artemis’ verdict: I’d Rather Rewatch The Morose Mononokean
I can see people enjoying the overall look of this show – it’s nice and colorful, especially some of the clothing designs – but it also feels extremely generic. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good supernatural series, whether it’s a modern-day mythology-based piece or one more rooted in historical fantasy, but Demon Prince of Momochi House, while it has all the stuff I tend to gravitate toward like youkai and spirit curses, really does nothing with it. Himari could be almost any shoujo leading lady with her determined can-do attitude but little else to define her, and our three resident spirits are all of the cliché bishounen variety, which is clearly how the show intends to market itself. There’s nothing offensive here, but if you’ve come for something new and interesting, you’re looking in the wrong place. The same core kind of premise has been done countless times previously and will likely be done countless times again in the future – Demon Prince of Momochi House is just one more anime to add to the list of supernatural human/hot-boy youkai romances.
