I found Sound Euphonium’s season finale a little anticlimactic. Compared to season 2, where the end was the pathos of the relationship between Asuka and Kumiko, ganbareing their way to gold just seems not the point? I also realized, for being one of the girls that still gets to star in the ED, they did nothing with Hazuki’s character this whole season. I get that this was focused on Kumiko’s story, but they could have at least thrown her a bone. I still think it was a good season overall, but I’m mixed on its execution.
Yokai was just wild. Still don’t know what to think about that. Half of me felt like I wasted my time, but I really wanted to see where they were taking this story next.
As I mentioned in the podcast, I kind of like that the concert became somewhat irrelevant because in the big picture, it is. It did feel anticlimactic though, and I agree the season 3 ending was no where near as good as season 2. I’m just glad they pulled season 3 together since I wasn’t feeling it early on.
Yokai was charming enough that I probably wouldn’t call it a waste of time, but I’m not sure I would recommend it to anyone either.
