i remember hearing about how the director wanted the pacing of the show to mimic the pacing of the spiral, and that while that would’ve cool in concept, it couldn’t really work in only 4 episodes.
i feel bad for junji ito fans, man. every time a new anime adaptation for his manga comes out it’s been nothing but bad news for everyone involved.
This season is looking bleak for me. I’m only enjoying Dandadan. I’m not sure I’d even have enough shows I liked this year to make a top 5 list.
I did see that the Gundam compilation movies are on Netflix, is that a good way to watch the original series?
I’d say so, yeah.
The compilation trilogy is a totally valid way to experience the original Gundam’s story. I highly recommend it.
I so wish I enjoyed Dan Da Dan… I tried, I really tried, but after watching two episodes I ended up with the feeling of “yeah, I don’t care about any of this”. And is like Chainsaw Man all over again, even people who haven’t been watching anime for ages write to me being all “HEY ARE YOU WATCHING THIS SHOW? IT’S AMAZING :D” or just assume I’m into it too and send me memes and whatnot, and I’m like “I’m sorry, I’m not into it, I’m so sorry”, and then they’re incredulous and are all “just watch more of it, you’ll love it, I guarantee”… and then they’re disappointed that finally there’s an anime they like and we can’t fangirl about it together. Gah.
That’s a crappy feeling I can’t help but relate to. In the end it’s not your fault that you’re not enjoying the latest high-profile anime, though. It’s almost certainly Shounen Jump’s.
