  1. Warning:End of season dump inbound.

I’m really happy that I listened to you guys and went back to Apocalypse Hotel. That has to be the best anime I’ve seen since Dungeon Meshi. I loved how effortlessly the show switched from catharsis to slapstick in the marriagefuneral episode, and that atmospheric episode 11 was such an incredible payoff for Yachiyo’s character arc.

I’m with you all that I was really disappointed by Gundam’s wasted potential. I don’t get why they didn’t do at least one episode like the dream sequences in Gurren Lagann to connect this show to its predecessors. Such wasted potential.

Generic Romance also was a show that needed an extra cour. So many characters felt barely fleshed out, and the ending too rushed.

I still think this was the best anime season in a long time based on how much there was to talk about. Next season looks just as promising!

    • I wasn’t able to be on and talk about Rock is A Lady’s Modesty, which ended up being my personal 2nd best show after Apocalypse Hotel. It was a pretty solid season.

I thought Kowloon Generic Romance was fine, but I think it was a little disappointing any way you spin it. Like the idea was good, but yeah maybe they just needed more time.

      • I’d also like to mention that this season has been very solid on my end, I even enjoyed Gundam even with it’s issues.

Obviously Apocalypse Hotel was easily the best show I watched this season and along with Jelx, I also thought Rock is A Lady’s Modesty ruled and continues the recent renaissance of music band anime.

Also shout out to A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof which is a return to form from SHAFT. A good bizarre comedy that reminded me of the pre-Madoka days.

Only show that was a bust was Lazarus but at least I got some new Kamasi Washington content out of it.
