Premise

Gen loves the peace and quiet of solo camping, but his enjoyment abruptly ends when a lost woman appears at his campsite.

Jel’s verdict: The Opposite of Laid Back

Do you want hear an extremely annoying anime woman yell at a slightly less annoying anime man for 15-20 minutes? Then you might love this first episode. Personally, I hated it. What I thought would be a chill camping show turned out to be a loud, badly written (romantic?) comedy that I almost couldn’t bring myself to finish.

For some context, the main girl decides to go solo camping for the first time, shows up with no plan, gets lost, then goes to some random person’s campsite and yells at them until they help her. It’s not that she’s asking for help, that’s reasonable given the situation, but she DEMANDS help as if she’s entitled to it and none of this is her fault. The main dude is understandably upset by this, but I’m not letting him off the hook either. He has a very stubborn and unrealistic attitude about only camping alone and basically only helps her because he discovers she can cook. That and she NEVER SHUTS UP until you do what she says.

I might be able to accept this as a wacky comedy premise, but the writing is terrible. A lot of the dialogue is the main girl yelling “DO IT!” and the main dude yelling “NO!”, back and forth like little kids. There’s no coming to an understanding, no chemistry between the two. Just the main girl shouting until she gets what she wants, oh and threatening a sexual assault charge if he doesn’t teach her how to camp. Classic!

So yeah, I hated this and I don’t think you should watch it. I would have much rather been bored to death by the chill type of camping show I was expecting.
