The Wrap-Up: Winter 2014

It’s that time of the year again when all of our contributors get to shine a spotlight on the show they thought to be the very best of the past Winter season, as well as reflect back on the preview to see which shows let us down the most.

Unbelievable! You Thought The Red Wedding Was Shocking? Anime’s Got You Covered!

You know how certain blogs tend to come up with a gazillion different variations on a list with the “Most Shocking Deaths in TV History” just so they can keep reminding you how outrageous the Red Wedding scene in Game of Thrones was? Well, of course, they’re in way over their heads, because anime, the objectively superior form of entertainment, just made that scene look like an episode of Blue’s Clues. Judge for yourself!

However, now that Tokyo’s governor (also Asuta’s father) has brought his special forces to the battlefield, Kate and her followers are easily beaten and forced on the run. With things looking grim, Asuta strengthens his convictions…sort of.

Part 2 of our Spring 2014 Anime Guide is headlined by the Noitamina block of shows and a pair of potential big hits in The Irregular at Magic High School and Knights of Sidonia. Add in a RomCom from the author of Love Lab and a few anime original projects and I’m finding the second half of the guide even more intriguing than the first.
