The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 3

More debate this week as Gee and I disagree on this season’s premier weird and awkward teenage romance anime – no, not that one, I mean the ending of Seiren’s first story arc. Also, has Interviews with Monster Girls finally hit the wall and become the dumb harem show we originally thought it would be? Join us and discuss.

All Your Monies: January 25th 2017

Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew (and Iro) will run down the last week’s new pre-orders, turning a loving or scathing all-seeing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard-earned cash on. After an extended break due to the end of year wrap up and subsequent new season, AYM returns!

The Roundup: Winter 2017 Volume 1

WE’RE BACK! Classicaloid and March Comes In Like a Lion return for the first installment of the Winter 2017 Roundup, joined by Onihei, Interviews with Monster Girls, and a new feature: The Little Witch Academia GIF of the week. We’ll have more shows next week as more second episodes air, so stay tuned.

The GLORIO Winter 2017 Anime Guide – Part 2

Part 1 of our winter preview guide was pretty bleak and part 2 is not much better. Fortunately there are some glimmers of hope. The most notable is the return Little Witch Academia, Trigger’s magical OVA series now formatted for TV. Aqua tells me Scum’s Wish is also good if you like horrible people doing horrible things, but if that turns out feel free to place 100% of the blame on him. Let us know if anything else looks interesting to you, brave readers, and we’ll see you soon with our first looks in the next few days.

The GLORIO Winter 2017 Anime Guide – Part 1

Let’s do a little math. 2016 in general = bad. 2016 anime = good. Using that formula and checking out next season’s shows, 2017 is looking to be a really good year. There will be some good continuing shows a few things that don’t look embarassingly bad, but as a whole the batch of new shows is looking rough. Still, it is our duty to carry on and sort through the trash so you don’t have to, and we always manage to find a few surprises. Take a look at part 1 of our Winter preview guide and let us know if you agree.

A Very GLORIO 2016: The Top 10

And so another GLORIO year comes to a close with only one thing left to do: reveal our picks for the ten best anime series of the year, or in our case eleven since it seems the only flaw in our system is getting ties at #10. If this is your first time joining us,…

A Very GLORIO 2016: Marlin’s Spirit Quest

Only half joking with that title, this year has been marked with a lot of changes, not the least of which being my entry into studies for the priesthood. Still you’re not here to listen to me talk about contemplating celibacy, you’re here for the people who pretty clearly are on the opposite end of the spectrum. 2016 was a light year for pure romance shows, but I’m here for you to dish out the best of the best.

A Very GLORIO 2016: Gee’s Hot Takes of Excellence

2016 is already over? Crazy! What a shitshow huh? 2016 was a solid year for anime (if not for literally anything else) and my awards are my chance to give a shoutout to their various accomplishments and qualities. Some of these awards are old standards, others are just my gut reactions to things I liked in 2016. Whatever, let’s go!

A Very GLORIO 2016: Artemis’ Pleasant Anime Surprises

It’s all too easy to remember the awful shows we subjected ourselves to over the course of the past year, but often much harder to remember the stuff that surprised us in the best of ways. In order to cap off 2016 on a positive note, I’d like to take this opportunity to talk a bit about those anime titles which, while not necessarily the strongest of the year, definitely exceeded expectations.

A Very GLORIO 2016: Jel’s Best Anime Moments of the Year

2016 was bad. Watching the world fall apart has made something as silly as writing about cartoons difficult to focus on at times. Still, it’s good to have a way to escape and anime has been good for that. In fact, I’d say this is the best overall year of anime we’ve had since 2011. I certainly had fun compiling my annual list of favorite moments and it was hard to narrow down to ten… so I decided not to. Hey, it’s my list and I will do what I want. So enjoy the list and stay tuned for the rest of the week as the rest of the crew shares their highlights from this year.

The Roundup: Fall 2016 Volume 10

AAAAAHHH! This season is already almost over! This year is already almost over! We have some fun year-in-review posts lined up starting tomorrow, but in the mean time there is still good anime to talk about. Girlish Number and Yuri On Ice are nearly complete, but strong episodes from Classicaloid and March Comes In Like a Lion make me happy they will be continuing into next season.

OP/ED Op-Eds: The Best of Fall 2016

With the season far from more than halfway over, it’s time to once again take a look (and listen) at our favourite songs from shows that have been airing for the past few months. The lineup of bloggers recommending their pick may have shrunk a bit, compared to the past couple of times we did this, but on the other hand, This will be the first OP/ED Op-Eds in ages that won’t ask you to listen to the same song twice. Hey, I guess this season was just that good? Not much of a consolation, but eh, we’ll take what we can get. Anyway, this time around, I namedrop a bunch of artists you should ask your dad about, Artemis gets another reason to fawn over Yuri!! on Ice and Jel is most likely on drugs. Again.
