Before he met Kaiji, Tonegawa Yukio spent his days watching over operations at Teiai Corporation. However, the president of the company is bored and throws a spanner into his day-to-day, making him organise a ‘game of death’ . It’s up to Tonegawa, and the subordinates he manages, to keep the president happy.
In the wake of a devastating nuclear war, Earth is ruled by an evil empire that has confiscated all modern weaponry. A group of resistance fighters bearing the noble spirits of historic rifles rises up to fight for freedom.
Some time after the previous episode, the Parasites struggle to survive on a newly adult-less(?) Earth. That is until Hiro discovers where Zero Two has gone and the crew head off into SPACE.
Six months ago, Nagisa Aragaki lost an important badminton match to a mysterious girl. Passionate and hard working to a fault, her sense of self crumbles and she grows bitter with frustration. Ayano Hanesaki, the girl who beat her, enrolls in the same high school, but has no desire to play badminton despite her innate talent for the sport. The fateful meeting between the two marks the beginning of a new rivalry.
A young man washes up on the beach of a mysterious island city. He only remembers a few things: he travelled through time to get there, there’s a girl he must protect to save the world, and to do so there’s someone he must kill.
Jel, Iro, Gee, and Aqua go way overtime as we reluctantly say BYE BYE to the very solid Spring 2018 anime season.
If you go about doing a season preview, it is only obvious you also close off on a season review. In The Wrap-Up, all of our contributors get to shine a spotlight on the show they thought to be the very best of the past few weeks, as well as reflect back on the preview…
Part 2 of our guide is a bit less grim if only because it contains less actively offensive content than Part 1. Cells at Work! looks like a fun, creative comedy and Planet With gives us an excuse to bring up cult favorite manga The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer. Other that? Meh. Please tell us we’re wrong and something here is worth looking forward to, and we’ll be back for Part 3 soon.
In our final Roundup of the season, we say goodbye to Real Girl (for now), Hinamatsuri (for now?), and Amanchu. Enjoy them while you can, next season is looking rough.
We tried to warn you on the podcast: the Summer 2018 anime season is looking a little rough. I don’t want to be too negative because we always finds shows that surprise us, but part 1 of our guide features forced sex changes, magic mind control slavery, big sister/little boy fetish stuff, and of course, lots of bouncing anime boobs… so yeah, we will have to look for some silver linings here. Let us know if there’s anything you think might actually be good, and we’ll see everyone for Part 2.
With Hiro and the Klaxosaur Princess incapacitated, it’s up to Zero Two and Dr FRANXX to break through and rescue them and, by proxy, the entire planet.
It’s business as usual for all the Roundup shows, despite the fact that there’s only one episode left for most of them. I will also have to start preparing for life without any new Hinamatsuri episodes to look forward to.
We try to talk about the new season but it’s bad, so we also talk about Osmosis Jones, Hyougemono, and, of course, six degrees of separation with Spider Riders.
The Parasites gear up for the final battle against the Klaxosaurs, as Hiro and Zero Two attempt to activate a mysterious superweapon.
Determined to defeat Evolt and Utsumi once and for all, Katsuragi goes about constructing Build’s ultimate power-up.
Remember about a year or two ago when Samsung had to recall the Galaxy Note 7 because there was a chance the battery would explode? Last Period did an entire episode about it and I don’t feel like I can talk about anything else that happened in The Roundup this week. Well, that and the Kamen Rider cameo in Hinamatsuri.
Phew, I’ve been gone a while huh? I really hope that nothing too major happened while I was awa….oh. Well, I guess we’ve got a lot to talk about huh?
Remember when this post came out around the midway point of the season? Well, it sure is the midway point for me, because I am behind on everything! In any case, those of us who do actually watch anime have informed me that this season has been a bit of a dud in the music…
It’s an extra large edition of the Roundup as things get weird and we have a lot to say about it. We we were already deep into Amanchu’s bizarre fantasy turn but I was definitely not expecting Last Period to bring up North Korea and Japanese rearmament. Yeah, it’s that kind of week.
