After the Wrap-Up and the Roundup, it’s time for the Catch-Up! Because it’s a bit silly to write a ‘first look’ post on shows that aren’t technically new, the Catch-Up gathers our brief impressions on new seasons of existing shows and reminds readers what we thought about their earlier installments. The Fall season is bringing us new episodes of Sound! Euphonium, Natsume’s Book of Friends, Ajin, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans and Glorio Blog favourite BBK/BRNK. What’s remained the same and what’s new or different? We’re here to help you find out.

I made an angry list last year, so this time I figured I’d go with a more long-form retrospective that hopefully didn’t end up quite as acerbic, but, well… read ahead.
Having impressed the Turbines, Tekkadan is taken in by Teiwaz. Meanwhile, the group struggles with questions of family and duty.
Tekkadan is attacked by the Turbines, a subsidiary of Teiwaz with a crew of lady Mobile Suit pilots.
Their original plans for going to Earth ruined, Tekkadan regroups and decides to try their luck with Teiwaz, an economic superpower located near Jupiter.
Tekkadan (FINALLY) launches into space, only to be betrayed by their ferrymen and attacked by Gjallarhorn.
As Tekkadan (STILL) prepares to escort Kudelia to Earth, some of Gjallarhorn’s officers land on Mars to investigate their missing soldiers.
Orga, Mikazuki, and company stage a coup, taking over CGS and renaming it “Tekkadan”. Meanwhile, Crank Zent (aka Totally-Not-Ramba-Ral) returns to the battlefield for a fair duel with Mikazuki and Gundam Barbatos.
Mikazuki drives away the Gjallarhorn forces in Gundam Barbatos, leaving both sides time to lick their wounds and prepare their next move.
The year is 323 of the Post Disaster era. Centuries after a great war between Earth and Mars, Mars has been terraformed into a habitable planet that chafes under Earth’s rule. Amidst the growing Mars independence movement, Mikazuki Augus is a war orphan and member of Chryse Guard Security, a martian mercenary group. Gundam Barbatos, a weapon of a bygone era is housed at their headquarters, dormant and acting as a power supply. When CGS comes under attack from Earth’s military arm, Gjallarhorn, Augus steps into Gundam Barbatos and begins his fight against Earth.
Like the changing of the leaves the Fall anime season brings a change in source materials, with the latest crop of shows full of light novel adaptations and anime originals. Part one of our guide is anchored by solid, know entities like Noragami and the inevitable return of the Monogatari series, but there’s a lot of other interesting new shows as well. We’re all at least curious to see if Mari Okada can turn the new Gundam series into anything less that a train wreck and I’m rather intrigued to see the stylish but infuriatingly misspelled Concrete Revoltio. Just watch out for those “Light Novel Mad Libs” shows that seem to make up the rest.
