Recap: Lan and Muginami continue their battle in the sky above Kamogawa. Will Madoka be able to stop them?
ItsaTimmy’s Thoughts: This episode kicks off with Madoka desperately trying to throw her self between Lan and Muginami as she is none to happy to find her old friends duking it out over what she soon finds out to be a misunderstanding. Mugi hasn’t come to kill Madoka after all but instead wants to make sure she stays out of the war that is going down, a war that she is certain Lan’s side will pull Madoka into. Before things get sorted out Mugi and Lan split leaving Madoka once again alone and quite confused.
I really enjoyed how they have kicked off this continuation, with Lan’s distrust of Mugi resurfacing a little and both of them once again finding themselves on opposite sides of a conflict with Madoka, and Earth for that matter, in the middle. This episode also gives us some much needed context to what the hell everyone is fighting about in the first place as it turns out both of the factions home planets are on a collision course. while diplomatic solutions are currently underway to figure out how to fix this, Lan’s brother has jumped the gun and decided that the planet of De Metrio needs to be destroyed and he is confident Madoka’s Vox has the power to do it.
Madoka, in a desperate attempt to find her friends, ends up running all over Kamogawa looking for them. She even goes so far as to hilariously contact Villagulio, the prince of De Metrio to inquire Mugi’s whereabouts, something that doesn’t go over very well back at HQ. Eventually, after showcasing another benefit of wearing a swimsuit under your clothes all the time, she finds them both stubbornly arguing in the clubroom. Both of them have given up all hope of their brothers coming to an understanding but Madoka literally forces them to kiss and make up and tells them that they all can surely get their brothers do do the same. It doesn’t take long before the girls find themselves inspired and once again standing alongside Madoka despite having no plan and no idea how they can stop this war and bring the two sides together.
Madoka no doubt continues to be the powerhouse of this show and she will certainly continue to do so. It is quite entertaining watching the genkin girl run around and infect everyone and everything with her sheer awesomeness. Finally seeing the big picture and realising the bad guys aren’t actually bad after all is also a real nice touch. This show continues to be great and I definitely look forward to seeing more.
