Durarara!! is by common consent one of the best shows of recent years, it’s heady blend of slice of life storytelling, supernatural hijinks and urban exploits resulting in a show that defied easy classification. It was a show that straddled many lines, and so it is with its closing theme.

‘Trust Me’ is as much a hybrid as the show it soundtracks, a mixture of strong background beats coupled with a lovely planitive call-and-response vocal by Yuya Matsushita. It’s emotional without being sappy, and heartfelt without losing any of the rhythm and pace which makes it so catchy. There’s also the iconic, much parodied animation, depicting the characters alternately lifting, hanging off of and supporting each other in a huge people chain. In many ways, it’s a perfect metaphor for the show and for the song  – life links people together through other people.
