Recap: Both the Wulgaru and the humans prepare for the Battle of Ceres.
Iro’s Thoughts:
Those aliens look a little too human to my eyes. I get that it’s probably to save on production values (and considering this extended sequence focusing on them, to make sure they’re relatable enough to make viewpoint scenes interesting) but it does strain the ol’ suspension of disbelief some. Even so, it’s nice to see that more than the most basic level of thought has been put into developing these characters. There are enough lines of dialogue to imply a (admittedly cliche) war and glory based culture, especially notable during the bit where the alien prince flat out rapes one of the maids offscreen. There are also a few hints that make it obvious the mysterious girl in the OP (and whom Izuru was smitten with during their trip to the pool) is probably an alien princess.
On the human side, Komine continues to be the biggest asshole this side of Jupiter. The “total ass in a position of authority” is a tried and true concept, and his continued self-important and moronic tactical decisions really strain on my patience, but in a good way. I hate the guy, but clearly we’re supposed to, and thus it all kind of works out. Still, I’m waiting for Amane to just deck him in the face and take command or something.
Fresh into the official military forces, Team Rabbits mostly spends the episode getting acclimated to life aboard the Star Rose, complete with their own concierge/manager/assistant. As seems to be per the norm for Majestic Prince, what’s originally billed as comedy ends up having some understated character drama underneath the surface. Most telling is their chat about family: Tamaki and Suruga both mention how tiresome having one must be, prompting a contemplative silence from the entire team. It all ties in well to the clear element of Team Rabbits having to learn teamwork with each other, and I look forward to seeing how things develop, especially with the promise of a big space battle next week.
