Recap: While the festival winds down, Sagami has gone missing. Yukino has to run interference while Hachiman goes on the hunt. After finding her, is there really any way to protect Yukino’s promise to help her as chairman? Does she even deserve it?

God, Sagami is a bitch. The best part about her development in this arc is just how realistic she is. There are definitely teens who take the easy road by dumping work on others, only to bail when that finally comes to bite them in the ass. I really wish she got more of a comeuppance than being super lame. At least Hachiman’s verbal lashing delivers, even if it makes her into the victim.

Still, I really don’t understand that underlying theme of the show. While I get that social suicide is Hachiman’s mechanism for solving problems, it doesn’t quite explain why he’s gotta use it every time. I can’t even begin to believe that the negative attitude coming from Sagami’s total disregard for her position could possibly get wiped out just because Hachiman was a justified asshole to her. It helps no one to paint them both badly, but that seems like what he was doing.

It would appear it worked, though. One wonders how people are still able to hang out with him without sharing in being social pariahs. Yui is the weirdest case: she’s constantly found with Hachiman in tow, but it never seems to damage her reputation in the long run. With Yukino it makes sense, they’re both loners, but Yui is still technically part of the popular clique. I guess the explanation can just be because Hayama’s the head of it, and he’s a much more easy going guy than Sagami and her gang.

With all the drama over, I’m not quite sure what’s left for SNAFU to talk about. Are they just going to tease us with some more romance right before pulling the plug? That’d be just cruel. With Yui’s offer of a date, and the continuously coy back-and-forth between Yukino, I definitely can see it happening. I’m still hoping for a jokey ending with Hachiman choosing the Shota. Obviously not happening, but it would be hilarious.
