Recap: The I-401 makes it to Iwo Jima for repairs. What they find confuses everyone.

Well now it makes a little more sense why Chihaya would be so willing to save two Mental Models as he did last week. Hyuuga’s inclusion continues a worrying trend of the I-401’s victims having these weird masochistic tendencies. Takao already was weirding me out with her desire to have Chihaya “order her”. It seemed wrong and not so vaguely sexual the way she described her… defensive penetration. I swear there were less lilies in Kanbaru’s OP. Considering both characters are girls it just made the whole thing uncomfortable.

So we found out the reason Takao acts so weird is that she literally programmed herself to do so. Idno about you but this just brought up a whole lot of questions for me. Why do these plug-ins exist? I get the idea of simulating human emotions but what do you get from something that makes you into a type-1 tsundere? If their personalities can be augmented, how can one really say their current personalities constitute a sentient consciousness? Aren’t they just following the guidlines of what they are allowed to do? What makes them unique? Is it just their bodies? Idno if they meant to open up this can of worms, but it sure made me rethink the entire idea of these things.

The fanservice was also out in full force again this week. Going into this show I didn’t realize how skeevy it would be, but I guess when I saw the Op zoom in on the boobs and butts of every Mental Model the warning flags should have tripped. It’s another thing that isn’t hampered by the 3d modeling. It seems like with less to work with the 3d is less noticeable, so the less clothes the better it looks. Yeah, I hate myself for realizing that too. I’ll accept that Haruna needed to turn her clothes into a shield, but some of it was just plain stupid week. What possible reason could Takao have for lounging on the beach? She is a robot, robots do not tan. At least Iona made it worth it with the one-piece and rubbery ducky though, that was just plain adorable. Even with Takao on their side, our heroes are still severely outgunned.With Kongou bearing down fast, it will be interesting to see what the I-401 does next.
