Zigg’s Verdict: Garbage

I get that this thing seems to be trying for a tongue in cheek parody of super robot shows, but it doesn’t matter what it’s trying to do. What matters is that this was utterly dire and immediately overhauls Majin Bone as my pick for the worst of the season. Whereas that show was generic, poorly animated and boring, this is generic, poorly animated, boring and SUPER CREEPY. It continues anime’s unfortunate trend of treating molesters like they’re ker-azy jokers we should embrace as lovable heroes. It also goes the standard Japanese route of outrageous stuff without context/commentary = comedy, and that’s not something I can ever get behind. Also, check out that CGI car! Rubbish on every possible level.

Jel’s Verdict: Super Pervert Wars Z

Watching this episode made me realize I would love to watch a Super Robot Parody series where the hot blooded protagonist turns out to be completely incompetent. I wouldn’t even mind if it leaned a little heavy on the fan service. Daimidaler starts off in that direction, and I loved the dry sense of humor in the face of one of the most ridiculous sets of villains in recent memory. How could you not be amused by our Hero getting fired up in the face of danger, only to immediately get kicked in the face by a humanoid penguin man with a massive “front tail”?

The problem with Daimidaler is when it goes beyond silly parody and it resorts to cheap exploitation. I can handle a shower scene here and there but when your main character derives his power from heartily groping breasts against the girls will, that’s just gross. What’s worse is the heroine in question is shown to be a brave mecha pilot herself in the opening of the episode, only to be reduced to a pair of boobs in the end. Considering that’s the entire crux of the plot, you can count me out for more. It’s a shame too, because I would have loved this otherwise.

Lifesong’s Verdict: Awful, Offensive and Stupid

It kept me laughing most of the episode. The protagonist is a pervert with an innate power. He actives his power by touching breasts. Anime has done all this before and so none of that was amusing on it’s own. When dudes in penguin suits with boner tails show up and start trashing the place things become so absurd it’s hard not to laugh. The mecha genre jokes are amusing, but the pervert angle makes sure this anime feels like sort porn through and through. This anime is awful, but that also seems to be half the appeal. I expect that appeal to wear off soon, but I intend to give this show at least one more episode. I will allow myself time to become immune to it’s “charms” before I move on. Who knows, maybe it will surprise me.

I turned this off after five minutes. It was that bad.
