Show Notes

  • A few quick words on Derrick May
  •  Captain Jurgens isn’t that bad really
  • How does Dominic really feel about Anemone
  • The Renton/Dominic dynamic
  • Dominic makes Renton look cool by comparison
  • Speculating on the multiple uses of Evil Woman Juice
  • Bike go vroom
  • Meanwhile Holland is freaking out
  • How old is Dominic?
  • Nobody can read a map
  • Little anime girl says fuck the police

  • Holland & Renton’s awkward heart-to-heart

59:02 – Episode 14 – “Memory Band”

  • Zigg’s note – Although I describe ‘Memory Band’ as an extremely obscure song, I foolishly did not realise that its main claim to fame was that it was sampled in A Tribe Called Quest’s ‘Bonita Applebum’, which was then itself sampled in The Fugees cover of ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’. So not so obscure after all!
  • New OP! Quick notes on ‘Shonen Heart’ and an Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan shoutout.
  • Bad news – this is basically a clip show
  • At least there are some wrinkles to the presentation
  • Dissing Stoner and RahXephon
  • There are some nuggets of new info here
  • Stealing airships for fun and profit
  • Our parties make plans for what’s next

1:18:55 – Speculation on the content of ray=out magazine,  final thoughts, and plugs

  1. I am just as shocked as all of you, I totally forgot Renton just turns his competence up to eleven here. The boy is truly down bad.

I’m with Gee that the clipshow having just enough relevant new backstory morsels to not skip makes it even more infuriating.

Between Shonen Heart and the new characters, this upcoming arc left such a deep impression in me back in the day. I’m looking forward to Aqua’s reaction!
