Premise

In a modern fantasy world, Yakou is a blind woman who works for a detective agency run by an invisible man named Tounome. There is a mutual attraction between the two, and they find time in their busy schedule to go on a date.

Jel’s verdict: I Can See The Vision

There is a very obvious angle to take on this – Tounome is invisible but this doesn’t matter because Yakou is blind, therefore she can see the REAL him and their connection is deeper than just looks. They definitely go that route, and if that’s all this was, I would pass it off as a cute but dull romance.

Where I see some potential is the detective agency angle, along with the possibility of introducing other fun characters. There are a wide variety of people that appear in this episode, from traditional fictional monsters to animal people to barely humanoid space aliens. While we don’t focus on any specific cases now, I suspect that will be the format moving forward.

That angle by itself wouldn’t do it for me either, seeing as the cases will likely be low stakes and the show itself is pretty chill. But combined with a cast of nice people being nice to each other and a cute romance, I think it could all be a good mix. I’m not getting my expectations too high, but I’m willing to give it another episode.

  1. Yeah, I watched the first episode yesterday, and I was surprised, it was really cute! I’m hoping for there to be more about the detective agency in future episodes and to learn more about their backstories. Like, how did Tonome become invisible? Was he born that way? I think it mentions that he “wanted people to not see him”, does that mean he chose to be invisible? Was it like a surgery?

    • That’s an interesting question, I assumed he was born that way since there are other fantasy people like animal people and aliens, but now that I think about it the original Invisible Man story was someone that made himself invisible. So that is possible, I guess we’ll see if they ever explain it.
