BBK/BRK smashes its way into a guest appearance on The Roundup as the world needs to know about the insane episode 8. And here I thought I was going to lead off this week with more Osomatsu and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure jokes…
After saying goodbye to Mr. Osomatsu last week, we say hello to Mr. Shounosuke Hijirikawa. Dagashi Kashi comes back from a week off with a solid episode, and all the Roundup shows are looking good as we pass the halfway point of the season.
Dagashi Kashi has the week off and most of the other shows put up solid performances, but none of that matters as Osomatsu destroys all competition – in so many different ways!
The members of F6 enjoy another day of… whatever it is that they do. When Choromatsu happens upon a group of college students having fun at a BBQ, it looks like a job for the VIRGIN HERO SQUAD!!!
In a SHOCKING TWIST, two of our regular Roundup shows don’t survive to volume 4. Can you guess WHO MISSED THE CUT??? Fortunately the rest of the lineup holds things down with a good mix of comedy and… well, mostly comedy.
All of our new Roundup shows have survived the 3 episode test, but will they survive after 4? Rakugo, Dagashi Kashi, and the shorts are holding steady while KONOSUBA, Nurse Witch Komugi R, and Rainbow Days continue to flirt with the chopping block. But hey, we can always count on Osomatsu to be amazing.
Our comedy-heavy Roundup gets a little heavier with the addition of KONOSUBA and a LOT heavier with Sekko Boys. PLEASE LAUGH AT MY BAD JOKES.
The Winter 2016 Roundup starts off with a bang as we bring in a new block of shows as well as a few returning contenders. Dagashi Kashi, Ojisan and Marshmallow, Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, Nurse Witch Komugi R, and Rainbow Days all make their Roundup debut while Snow White with the Red Hair and Durarara return after a season off. Oh, and of course Mr. Osomatsu is still with us, thank the anime gods!
Set in the Muv Luv Alternative universe in which aliens called BETA invaded Earth during the height of the Cold War, our story picks up in Germany in 1983. Not only is the nation divided by East and West, East Germany is dealing with in-fighting of its own as it tries to unite against the BETA. At the center of the turmoil is East Germany’s ace 666th Squadron (yes, 666, it’s OK to laugh), who pick up a mysterious girl while fighting on the front lines.
Komugi is an energetic middle school girl who wants to be an idol like her famous idol friends! She also likes to help out her doctor dad at the family clinic! One day she gets an opportunity to act in a TV show but a monster shows up! WHAT WILL KOMUGI DO??? LET’S KOMUGICATION!!!
In a future where logic from another world has been harnessed into super powers and creates gods, “logicalists” defend the Earth from “foreigners” – monster like invaders from the other world. A veteran logicalist is trying to return to a peaceful life with his family but is called back into action when his town is attacked.
Kokonotsu “Coconuts” Shikada wants to be a manga artist but his father, a famous candy maker, wants him to take over the family shop. One day a beautiful girl walks in the store claiming to be the heiress to a huge candy company and tries to recruit Dad, who agrees to go with her only and if only Coconuts decides to run the family business.
What would happen if the Matsuno brothers were re-interpreted as a serious TV drama? What would happen if the Matsuno brothers were the Matsuno sisters? What would happen if one Matsuno brother walked in on another while he was… well, just watch the episode.
Lesser websites might wait until the end of the 2010’s to do their Best of the Decade retrospectives, but we don’t have that kind of patience. Instead, we thought it might be fun to do a midterm grade of sorts and choose our best shows from the past 5 years.
And so another GLORIO year comes to a close and we’ve reached the moment everyone has been waiting for: our picks the best shows of 2015.

For the final part of our Guide, we clean up an outbreak of Visual/Light Novel trash, including a new Muv Luv anime that has me shivering with flashbacks of Total Eclipse. But hey, there’s a new Macross coming soon so maybe everything will be OK.
The second part of our Winter 2016 Preview has a whole lot of game adaptations with Divine Gate, Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation, and Dogakobo attempting action again with Luck & Logic. There are a few unique looking shows though, with Shouwa Era Rakugo (someone please come up with a better title) looking like something for the grown-ups to watch and Dimension W attempting to appeal to us unworthy foreigners.
In part 1 of our Winter 2016 guide we have candy store comedy Dagashi Kashi begging to be popular, some new show with mecha cops, more murder mysteries, and KyoAni making another attempt at super powered high school action.
