Eruna wants to a go to a high school where she can wear a cute uniform and make out with girls. After seeing a hot girl in a brochure she decides to attend Mikagura Academy, a school in which cultural clubs do battle for glory and sweet accommodations.
The SAI Corporation has developed a series of androids called “Giftia” that are nearly indistinguishable from humans. The only catch is they have a 9 year life span before they must shut down and have their memories erased. Tsukasa Mizugaki begins his new job with SAI’s Terminal Service, tasked with retrieving the Giftia when they run out of time.
Hibiki Amami is starting high school. She can see and communicate with supernatural beings which, hilariously enough, includes cats. She tries to befriend the class rep, who hates all things related to the occult.
The Goddesses have chosen to live as humans and have descended to the land of Orario. They grant powers to their Familias – groups of their followers that are dedicated to exploring the eponymous Dungeon for riches and glory, etc. etc. Bell, the sole follower of the Goddess Hestia, is inexperienced and weak but is determined to get stronger so he can attract girls.
EVERYBODY! PUT YOUR HANDS UP! The games have ended and it’s time to pass judgement on Death Parade. The follow up to 2013’s one shot Death Billiards is full of emotional highs and lows, but do the moods swing too much for its own good? Join Jel, Artemis, and Aquagaze as they share their final thoughts on the series.
We say a bitter sweet goodbye to all our Winter Roundup shows, or at least until we give our Final Thoughts on most of them later this week.
Welcome to the Lost and Found, our convoluted question and answer segment where we tackle the most pressing issues from our recent search terms. Whether it’s a perfectly innocent inquiry about your favorite anime or a search that makes us question the depths of human depravity, we are here for you. In this edition, Jel curates the finest in anime music, art, and poetry for the most mature and dignified experience the Glorio Blog has ever seen.
More death and tragedy all over the place as Garo, Death Parade, Yatterman, and Yurikuma continue to deny us happiness. Fortunately Shirobako delivers the best episode of the season, but even that makes us shed a tear for completely different reasons.
The final part of our guide goes in strong on the nostalgia with new Digimon and Lupin III series, plus we get Trigger’s latest attempt to SAVE ANIME with Ninja Slayer. Meanwhile, I go against my better judgement and remain cautiously optimistic about Punchline and Yamda-kun and the 7 Witches, two comedies that probably won’t be winning any Anime of the Year awards. Maybe I’m just getting worn down by all this new anime? Take a look and decide for yourself.
Part 2 of our guide features Dogakobo and Kyoto Animation slugging it out to see who can be cuter, while a good portion of the Glorio Crew has their eyes on Blood Blockade Battlefront, which is somehow NOT created Ryougo Narita. Meanwhile Sanrio attempts to steal money from Otaku with the creepy Show by Rock!! and Rainy Cocoa gives me an excused to reference the end of the the first season of The World God Only Knows.
Spring 2015 is the season Manga Strikes Back as the majority of the new shows are manga adaptations. Party like it’s the 2000’s as new Nanoha and Haruhi spinoffs headline Part 1 of our Preview Guide and we already have a candidate for Worst Show of the Season with Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?. Throw in popular manga Shogeki no Shouma and our seasonal random anime with Gen Urobuchi’s name attached to it and we’re certainly starting off with an eclectic mix.
In this week’s installment… We are getting near the end of the season which means plot twists and big reveals all over the place. Garo, Death Parade, and Yatterman give away a few secrets, plus Jel puts his entire writing career in jeopardy by quoting the Spice Girls.
Set your fun levels to ZERO as Death Parade brutally concludes its two part murder mystery, Yatterman reminds you that your childhood heroes are dead, and both Maria and Yurikuma throw in a few rape attempts to round things out. Good times!
Shirobako somehow makes a character worse than Tarou, Death Parade delivers the crime drama no one wanted, and KUMA SHOOOCK!! We catch up on Yurikuma Arashi during its week off. Yes, I just wanted to say KUMA SHOOOCK!! again. Shabadado.
As the latest from former doujin developers French Bread, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late certainly has colorful characters and flashy super moves, but does it do enough to stand out from the crowd? Is it better than its incredibly long and awkward title lets on? Can I get through this entire review without saying “Melty Blood”? Let’s have a closer look.
Garo gets deep, Yatterman is even sillier than usual, and Death Parade helps me almost overcome my completely healthy and logical fear of mannequins… almost.
As we hit the midpoint of the season, all our shows put on their hardhats, grab a lunch pail, and go about their business as usual… well, all the shows except Death Parade, which decides to re-invent itself yet again.
Shoooooock! (kuma shock)… I’ve been waiting all season to slip that in and finally get my chance as Yurikuma Arashi guest stars in the Roundup this week. As one show enters, we also have our second drop of the season. What could it possibly be???
Things get HEAVY as Death Parade, Maria, and Yatterman reach into some of the darkest depths possible. Fortunately Shirobako, Earth Defense Club, and some Garo filler are also around to lighten the mood.
Good times all around as Roundup vets Shirobako and Garo deliver some fresh perspectives and the new shows continue to deliver on their potential. Earth Defense Club is somehow still funny, Death Parade expands its emotional range, Maria stays as sharp as ever, and Yatterman delivers one of the first get out of your seat and cheer moments of the season.
