Unfortunately for you guys, nobody stepped up to the plate this week so y’all get to deal with me again. This week I’m featuring another favorite of mine from the 90s: “Smile Bomb”, the funky first OP for the original ghost/monster/demon fighting manga starring a delinquent, YuYu Hakusho.

Despite being on the younger side of the age spectrum amongst the GLORIO crew, it seems that most of my favorite OPs and EDs are classics. Mikoto’s interrogation of Frenda is interrupted when reinforcements arrive. Shinobu tries to enact her new plan at the other research facility, but she encounters problems of her own.
The school festival is getting started, and in contrast to most every other episode, almost none of the actual prep is shown. Instead, committee politics is the name of the game this week.
Chihaya faces off against Shinobu, but her injury may be more than she can handle. Elsewhere, we finally start to see how the other members of Team Mizusawa are doing.
Awkward tension looms as Yukino and Hachiman haven’t talked to each other since he learned the truth of his accident. Yui once again tries to connect with him, but it would appear he only has eyes for Yukino. Why can’t they just get back to focusing on social commentary?

Recap: The crew of the Yamato manage to revive one of the captured Gamilan androids. The ship’s AI robotic assistant, Analyzer, strikes up a friendship with the android, newly christened as “Alter.”
