Apologies for the late post, I’ve been away from home the past few days. But hey, we’re back now and we even have Artemis with us this week! As for the anime, the Roundup shows were mostly solid across the board, although you may notice the conspicuous absence of Revue Starlight. Sorry folks, it was time.
Last week, Crunchyroll received a lot of backlash when they announced they were developing a new original series called “High Guardian Spice”. Many complaints have been raised, but what is the REAL reason everyone is so mad?
We continue across the sea of stars, where Gee and Iro watch the seminal 1988-1997 Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA a few episodes at a time. Keep an eye out for this podcast between main installments of The GLORIO Chat as we work our way through the history books. This installment covers episodes 7 through 9.
I guess it’s Problematic Episode Week here at the Roundup as I am forced to mete out social justice all over the place. OK, maybe I’m exaggerating a little but I’m just saying I’d rather be talking about how Asobi Asobase is slowing becoming my favorite show of the season and less about how Chio’s School Road can’t get Kabaddi girl off the screen.
With all of our other podcast regulars busy this week. the remnants of Team GLORIO USA aka Jel, Gee, and Marlin hold down the fort and catch up on the Summer 2018 anime season.
It feels like all the shows that were good last week were bad this week and vice versa, save for Planet With which is always pretty great. Fortunately, Asobi Asobase joins the Roundup to make its claim for best “girls behaving badly” show of the season. Sorry, Chio’s School Road, I think they have you beat at this point.
Spirits are out there, doing shady spirit things and committing spirit crimes. Fortunately we have a strange kid who is well versed in magical law, and he’s ready to find them guilty and send them all to hell.

It’s been a good week for anime as nearly all our Roundup shows deliver solid episodes. I didn’t write about it but I also caught up with Asobi Asobase, which has turned out to be much better than it looked in the first two episodes. Would anyone like to see us cover that?
And so begins our maiden voyage across the sea of stars, where Gee and Iro watch the seminal 1988-1997 Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA a few episodes at a time. Keep an eye out for this podcast between main installments of The GLORIO Chat – every two weeks or so – as we work our way through the history books.
The GLORIO Blog sells out! We’re dropping Steins;Gate 0 from the Roundup and replacing it with one of the most popular anime currently airing… BUT WHICH SHOW IS IT???
Jel, Iro, Gee, and Aqua reminisce about the origins of GLORIO and remember the good and bad times we’ve been through over the past 6 years.
It took awhile for all the new shows to air, but now that we’ve hit at least episode 2 of just about everything it’s time for the Roundup to return! This season we’ve got Banana Fish, Chio’s School Road, Revue Starlight, Planet With, and Hanebado plus Steins;Gate 0 returning from last season.
A young ballet dancer discovers that her friend’s prodigious talent comes from ‘aguu’ – once real people whose skills are being used for the benefit of others, and who now suffer on in eternal torment.
Karen is studying at a prestigious music academy to become the next star of the theatre. When her childhood friend Hikari returns to Japan after a twelve-year absence, Karen, along with her classmates, gets roped into a mysterious audition process.
Dull protagonist, an exorcist, moves into a room at a hot springs because it has cheap rent. There he finds himself living with a variety of quirky women who all seem interested in him, even though he’s very boring. He doesn’t exorcise a ghost despite being an exorcist, because she’s cute.
Moving in with his uncle, who owns a diving shop, Iori Kitahara anticipates a fulfilling freshman year in college, surrounded by cute co-eds and kindred spirits. Unfortunately, the local diving club doesn’t exactly seem to have its priorities straight.
While perhaps not as bad as we were originally expecting, the Summer 2018 anime season certainly has its ups and downs. Jel, Iro, Gee, and Zigg get off their up to the minute hot takes on all the new shows we’ve been watching.
24 episodes later, Trigger and A1’s joint robot saga has finally reached its conclusion. We talk about what we got out of this hotly anticipated collaboration (hint: mostly pain)
