While perhaps not as bad as we were originally expecting, the Summer 2018 anime season certainly has its ups and downs. Jel, Iro, Gee, and Zigg get off their up to the minute hot takes on all the new shows we’ve been watching.

I really like Banana Fish so far. But I haven’t read the manga so I guess I’m coming to it pretty fresh.
Isekai shows feature someone entirely normal and average from our world going to another world where some aspect of average humanity is exceptional and makes them massively overpowered…
Basically what I’m getting from this is that isekai shows are reverse Superman.
Does anyone really want a reverse Superman?
The fact that these shows keep getting funded suggests that the answer to that is, disappointingly, yes.
