I saw snow when I looked out of my bedroom window this morning, so winter feels far from over. Nevertheless, we’re well past halfway into the Winter anime season, which means it’s time for us to select our favourite anime songs of the current season. Better check them out before they get thrown off YouTube, because with the a lack of a clear victor, this season’s lineup is a diverse haul of new talents and old friends ready to boost you all the way back to 2004. Or 1986. Or 1928. Seriously, are Asian Kung-Fu Generation still a thing?
The Roundup: Winter 2016 Volume 8
A bit of a hit and miss week with some shows doing better than others, but the good shows were pretty great. Sure we have our subtle, measured use of drama with shows like Snow White and Rakugo, but I’ll take the hilarious vomiting blood reactions of Osomatsu and the marble statue blackmail sex of Sekko Boys any day.

On the brink of earning their volunteer soldier licenses, the party decides to raid a goblin stronghold.

After saying goodbye to Mr. Osomatsu last week, we say hello to Mr. Shounosuke Hijirikawa. Dagashi Kashi comes back from a week off with a solid episode, and all the Roundup shows are looking good as we pass the halfway point of the season.

Yume and Shihoru try to welcome Mary into the party, which goes about as well as you’d expect. When it turns out she used to party with one of Grimgar’s most famous guilds, the boys hope to find an explanation for her standoffish behaviour.

Airi is trapped, but Satoru arrives in time to help. After escaping the scene, he goes off to search for the real culprit. After gaining an ally in his mother’s old coworker, he starts to gain a clearer picture into what’s happening.
