On a fateful day in July 2012, we created our first post. To commemorate this special occasion, we decided to relive our favorite part of forcing ourselves to watch every anime that ever comes out: the surprises. Just about every season a show or two pops up out of nowhere and turns out to be pretty good, and we wanted to give a shout out to a few you might of missed. In today’s post we’re looking at 2016, which was such a good year for anime that it almost takes up a post of its own.
2016 was bad. Watching the world fall apart has made something as silly as writing about cartoons difficult to focus on at times. Still, it’s good to have a way to escape and anime has been good for that. In fact, I’d say this is the best overall year of anime we’ve had since 2011. I certainly had fun compiling my annual list of favorite moments and it was hard to narrow down to ten… so I decided not to. Hey, it’s my list and I will do what I want. So enjoy the list and stay tuned for the rest of the week as the rest of the crew shares their highlights from this year.
Hello, and welcome to All Your Monies, where The Glorio Blog’s resident toy and figure collecting crew (and Iro) will run down the last week’s new pre-orders, turning a loving or scathing all-seeing eye over what’s been put out for you to spend your hard-earned cash on. This week the crew is once again assaulted by illness but not even that can keep them from their sacred duty of disapprovingly frowning at skeevy figures.
Most of this stuff actually ends, and on the same week Jel takes a vacation! Can Iro manage to pull together the wrap-up in his absence? Read ahead to find out!
Most every Roundup shows airs their penultimate episode with no sign of the end in site. Seriously, it’s completely business as usual and I have no idea how any of these shows are going to find a stopping point. At least Bakuon!! is weird again.
The Roundup is heating up as Luluco getts the cameo we we’ve been waiting for and Tanaka-kun carts out the “summer episode”. I suppose there were other shows too but hey, Inferno Cop!
We’re about three quarters through the spring season and our Roundup shows prepare for their final stretch by… basically doing the same things they always do. I guess that’s what happens when you watch a lot of easy going comedies. But hey, at least we have Luluco to deliver our weekly dose of madness, right?
