Recap: As the Mediator tries to figure out the Fairies’ time loop, she runs into a very different version of the Assistant. She then must use the clues she’s been given to piece together who he really is.
Jel’s Thoughts: I can understand if they want to give a little background on the Assistant, but I feel like they could have just combined these last two episodes into one and be done with it. Even if they did, I’m not sure it would have been worth it. What little we do learn about him is pretty much re-affirming what we already know. Especially following the previous arc, it almost feels like the author fell in love with clever flashback setups and had to try it again. This one doesn’t nearly deliver the same “Ohhhhhh that’s what happened!” impact of the Mediator getting her hair cut though. I suppose meeting the Ringo Kid was mildly entertaining, and I was amused by the Mediator’s immediate threat of legal action during their uh, dialogue. But you could have easily tossed that into last week’s episode and still had time to wrap things up.
I hate to say it but Humanity has been… declining since its fantastic opening. Feel free to groan and facepalm, but it’s true. We’ve lost the sense of purpose the show started with and now it just feels like the writer trying to channel his stream of consciousness into something palatable. We’ve got time for another arc or two left, so hopefully they can finish strong.

*spoiler alert*
Alright, I know I’m four years late to this but I just want to point out that that’s not the Assistant in that episode. That’s actually her grandpa. You can tell because he takes away the watch when he leaves and at the beginning of the arc, he gives it to her while saying it was given to him by a beautiful woman.
Saw this site through your FB page. I’m liking what I’m seeing here.
My memory is pretty fuzzy on that episode at this point, I’ll have to go back and look. Thanks for reading!
