Recap: As the group’s journey continues, Kon begins to feel homesick and misses his video games, manga and junk food. With no such things in their world, the rest of the group does their best to understand and fill his needs with what they have.
Jel’s Thoughts: Another slow filler episode this week, although there were considerably more funny bits than last week’s dud. I must admit Kon was starting to cross the line from lovably obnoxious to actual obnoxious with his demands. He has always worn his nerd/loser status loud and proud which at least made him entertaining, this week he just seemed like an ungrateful, obsessive little brat. Of course the “be careful what you wish for” moral of the story made sure to mete out some punishment, but I would have liked to see him taken down another notch.
Fortunately there is still fun to be had as the idea of trying to recreate modern amenities in a quasi medieval fantasy setting is a great concept to work with. Mariandale pretty much bails this episode out with her resourcefulness. Her black magic fast food and whatever horrifying, most likely illegal in our world “comics” she shares were easily the funniest parts of the episode. While not as amusing, Sainglain’s impromptu MMA plan at least got us another kick in the balls, we can only go so long without one of those.
Next week looks like we’re putting an end to the filler as the party face off with ED and his lackeys. It’s a given someone will get kicked in the balls, but is it wrong I would find it hilarious if all his minions died some quick, ignominious death? Much more likely is some bigger, common evil that will bring them all together, but we shall soon see.
