Ixion Saga DT Episode 24

*wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*

Recap: Ecarlate’s group rushes to the battlefield to stop the war but are held up by the Ulga Sorority’s poorly named Ulbrion warriors. With no time to spare, Kon enacts a desperate, last minute strategy to keep both sides from fighting.

Jel’s Thoughts: Everything in this episode played out exactly the way you expect it to and that’s exactly what Ixion wants. The hammy villain, the last minute rescue from ED, the appearance of the final boss, all of it is done quite literally with a wink and a smile. Whether he’s calling out said villain on his stupid laugh or reciting ED’s lines word for word before he can say them, Kon knows the score just as much as we do.

Erec to the rescue. Hey, that's the first time I called him Erec!

It was also pretty fun seeing how the cast has upgraded now that they’re all Hyperions, not to mention getting a little shot of action for good measure. Ecarlate is easily the most amusing now that she’s joined the battle personally, carrying around Raising Heart her elaborate Magical Girl weapon and halfheartedly attempting to shout out attack names. I guess my only question is if she’s packing Nanoha levels of destructive power like she shows toward the end of the episode, couldn’t she have just nuked everything from the get go?

Don't you just wanna give him a hug?

To top everything off, I could not think of a more appropriate final boss for our heroes to fight. Its blue fuzzy appearance aside, I was cracking up when he just pops Olvidia like a balloon and that’s just the end of that. I have no clue how they’re going to fight that thing but I wouldn’t be surprised if it involved some kind of giant apparatus to kick it in the balls. Once that’s out of the way it’s finally time to end this surprisingly little show, and barring a bad final episode (which seems unlikely) I think I’m quite satisfied with how Ixion turned out. Depending on how things pan out I might even get a little emotional when the time finally arrives for Kon to head home, but we’ll see how things go next week.
