In our last edition of OP/EDs we named the best openings and endings of the Winter 2013 season, but I wanted to make sure this particular gem didn’t slip through the cracks. It’s probably no coincidence my mind keeps mixing up the title of Nekomonogatari’s opening song with the Beatles classic “Golden Slumbers”. Of course I’m not suggesting it belongs on the B-side of Abbey Road, but it does have beautiful strings, a splash of piano, and a gorgeous bridge that emulate classic pop ballad arrangements of the 60s. Add in veteran singing seiyuu Yui Horie’s clear, plain vocals and silhouetted visuals that make my inner graphic designer giddy and we’ve got ourselves another outstanding -monogatari OP. Anyone else nearly as excited for the new season as I am?
