Recap: The C3 club goes to an airsoft tournament.
Gee’s Thoughts: Yet again, C3 manages to both disappoint and impress me at the same time. While the somewhat questionable tactics displayed by our girls (and the odd occurrence of real gun sound effects) had the former airsofter in me twitching, the run and gun antics were quite enjoyable overall. Hell, even the production values seemed to have jumped up from the last episode, though there were definitely some shortcuts taken here and there. And as usual, the soundtrack’s jazzy angle also continues to be pleasant on the ears. Some of the more “cutesy” tunes are gonna have to go though. Really, C3 is quickly proving that anything is better if you throw a jazz soundtrack into it.
Also, c’mon. Hot springs? Really? While I don’t disapprove of all fanservice, this just seemed particularly unnecessary.
Alas, Yura continues to be the weakest link in the show, her whole “Shy newbie girl” shtick getting annoying quickly. I was particularly annoyed when she surrendered at the end of the last battle with the mall ninjas*. Thankfully, Sonora completely verbalized my disappointment, completely turning my expectations for this show upside down. I had initially feared I’d have to suffer through another 3-4 episodes of Yura’s confidence issues, but with the conclusion of this episode (and the oh-so-symbolic haircut), I have hope that those issues have already been addressed and we can go back to our regularly scheduled dosage of cute girls doing cute things (with guns).
*Among the firearm community, mall ninjas are slang for the “tacticool” enthusiasts who enjoy things such as dressing in all black and being hilariously delusional.
Jel’s Thoughts: I enjoyed this episode quite a bit, with the introduction of a rival club and Sonohara giving Yura the stern lecture she deserved. I’m going to go out on a limb and call this now: Sonohara “dies” (i.e. graduates, gets injured, whatever) and Yura, with her inherited hot blooded passion for fake guns, must lead the club on to victory. Especially with the new haircut, it’s a classic Dead Mentor set up. Just remember you heard it here first.

Don’t forget the “The Power of Friendship” speech and the still frames of each member grinning at one another that will follow their victory.
Id have to agree on the hot springs, it wasn’t really needed and I was waiting for 4 episodes of Yura to build her confidence back up, which looks like they are skipping over it. It was still an entertaining episode with all the gunplay animation with some mixed feelings about certain things.
That’s basically how I feel. For every misstep C3 makes, it does something else to pleasantly surprise me.
