Love Lab: Episode 3

3

Recap: The love lab antics of the student council have been found out by those who would steal their positions. Will the girls all learn to get along? Or will their dirty secret leak out?

Lifesong’s Thoughts: And they all became friends and lived happily ever after. I am a little disappointed the villain thing ended so soon, but hopefully they will still be somewhat antagonistic, even though they are all part of the student council now.

I loved the verbal punches gag, and the visual gags in general continue to be a large part of what makes this show so amusing. I was also fairly impressed by the drama. This show may not be the deepest thing ever, but the drama came off in a cute way and without feeling forced.

I wonder where this show will go from here. The suggestion box makes me think of Medaka Box. I wonder if the student council will take it upon themselves to solve the love problems of their entire school… now that they are experts and all. As long as the visual gags don’t drop the ball I suspect I’ll continue to be amused no matter what this show does next.

Jel’s Thoughts:I was impressed with how much heart this episode had and like Life mentioned they managed to pull off the somewhat serious business without forcing it. The girls managed to keep even the most dramatic moments in perspective, which was kind of refreshing. I don’t think pulling out some kind of dark, tragic past would help this show at all, although I do want to know just what it is Maki’s father does for a living. I too was disappointed at the loss of our villain, but I think the series has earned a little benefit of the doubt. Keep doing what you’re doing, Love Lab, and you’ll be just fine.
