Recap: Keima’s next target is Yui. Her dominant personality goes at ends with Keima’s style, so he has to change things up in order to get her heart.
I love Keima’s logical processes. He knows he can’t just approach Yui as the one trying to, so what does he do? Become the girl so that she thinks she’s conquering him. It’s only the kind of backwards logic a gamer would think of. While it’s always personally awkward to watch crossdressing scenes, the sheer inanity of it all really helped. The part where he’s just shouting into the air really brought me back to the first two seasons. Keima would always know what he needed to do to get the girl, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t totally nuts.
I really enjoyed this episode until that final scene with the showdown between Yui and the “Vintage Member”. The Haqua fanservice there was entirely unnecessary and honestly kind of gross. This isn’t the last time Haqua will be used as fanservice bait, and it really is a black mark on the entire story arc how badly she gets treated. The whole idea of reversing the princess rescue was cute, but that clothes destroying scene just ruined it. Thankfully, with Yui being good friends with two of the remaining targets, we’ll get to see her in the spotlight, but it does make me sad to know we won’t be seeing as much from her from now on.
