Recap: Panicking at the prospect of being killed by the Female Titan, Eren considers transforming as well, even if he does not have full control over his Titan form.

Gee’s Thoughts: What can I say about this episode? Not a lot happened. Eren and the rest of the Recon Corps are shitting their pants, he wants to transform, and a little pep talk by Petra “TRUST US/HAVE FAITH” Rall stops him. It’s clearly the studio trying to buy time before the big (and likely expensive) fight between the Recon Corps and the Female Titan goes down.

In terms of actual plot development, we get to see the camaraderie aspect that defines the Recon Corps. While these crazy paranoid killers might be, well, crazy and paranoid, they’re intensely loyal. The teaspoon scene followed by the mutual biting, while a little cheesy and contrived, does let us know that while humanity still sees Eren as a danger, he is also a comrade and a true member of the Recon Corps.

More interestingly, is Erwin’s insistence on capturing the Female Titan. While someone like Hanji might be a little more predisposed towards that sort of thing, it seems ridiculously dangerous and ambitious to try and capture a Titan, an intelligent one at that. While the prospect of being able to interrogate one or research a living intelligent Titan is temping, the last 3-4 episodes have basically been spent showing us just exactly what an intelligent Titan is capable of. Erwin’s plan might have been nifty, but I seriously doubt those cables are going to hold our mysterious Titan for long. Here’s hoping the Recon Corps has what it takes to bring her down when the time comes.
