Love Lab: Episodes 6, 7 and 8

1

Recap: And we are back with more Love Lab! These last few episodes have been pretty fun. The news paper association has the student council figured out and while they might be in line to become friends of the student council, Sayori has been caught with her boyfriend by one of the teachers!

Lifesong’s Thoughts: Here we are eight episodes in and I am somewhat amazed that Love Lab hasn’t given up the things that made me like in the first place. I had expected this show to devolve into girls doing cute things just because that is what girls do, or so the genre often goes.

Love Lab never goes very long without an antagonist of some sort. First it was Sayori and the old student council president and then it was reporters. Now it has come full circle and Sayori is the one on the chopping block. I think this extra bit of tension adds a lot to what makes Love Lab so special.

Of course, the visual gags are still the most obvious and entertaining aspect of this anime. Huggy still makes me laugh every time he (it?) makes an appearance.

Riko’s younger brother had a great reaction to Natsuo. His imagined version of her personality really put her back into perspective. She acts so dumb in front of her friends, but no one else gets to see that, well aside from us of course.

Looks like Sayori’s neck is on the line now that she has been caught with her boyfriend. I wonder how they will solve this problem. I suspect the reporters will have to step in and do something to save her despite their previous problems with her personality.

On a final note I am glad to see there are actual boys in this series. I kind of suspected this show would eventually turn to lesbian antics. Honestly it still might do just that, but boys are a good sign that Love Lab is sticking to it’s guns!
