Premise: Koto (Rie Kugimiya) and her brothers A (Noriko Hidaka) and Un (Ryouko Shiraishi) are stuck in a bizarre, parallel version of Kyoto, where demons roam the streets and the laws of physics and common sense don’t apply. Looking for a black rabbit which can send them back home, the siblings cause a lot of mayhem, which often puts them at odds with a girl named Shouko (Chiwa Saitou). Meanwhile, The Coucil of Three, consisting of Kurama (Shigeru Nakahara), Yase (Eri Kitamura) and Koto’s caretaker Myoe (Kenichi Suzumura), anticipate the return of their goddess, Lady Koto– wait a second… This is the same OVA I watched two years ago!

Indeed, Kyousogiga‘s televised debut starts off with a rerun of the web-exclusive short that started all this madness, here aptly named “episode 00”. I can’t write any first impressions of something I have watched four times already, but that doesn’t change the fact that you should definitely experience this beautiful insanity for yourself if you haven’t had the chance yet. Lifesong’s Verdict: Completely Incoherent

What is there to say about a show that makes less sense than Alice in Wonderland? Kyousougiga is full of pretty animation and explosions of color, but wow is it heavy handed. I don’t have the slightest idea what any of the things going on were about. The characters were annoyingly high energy and managed to drain what little fun I was having with the animation. The really odd thing is that I still feel like this anime might be worth something despite its incoherence. I didn’t really enjoy the first episode, but I am still somewhat intrigued. I will have to give this a few more episodes before I decide if it’s for me or not.
